O2 contract emancipation - best route?!

Hi guys,

I enrolled on a 24 month (urgh) £45pcm month contract with O2, which ends in February 2012, in order to obtain an iPhone.

I have subsequently mashed my iPhone to the extent in which it's irrepairable, and have no insurance (!).

As a consequence, I'm using a dire old phone which is now dying on me.

Can anyone suggest any ways to free myself from this contract and get a decent phone elsewhere? O2 won't offer me a discounted replacement or similar model :(

Thanks

I think you can buy yourself out of the contract early, something like the monthly cost multiplied by the number of months remaining.

Don't know of any other way

Call them and try to negotiate is your only option.
Otherwise they will want the contract to be paid off.
What you can also look into is if you can drop your Monthly plan, some let you do this in steps so you could then take on another contract for the same outlay PCM.

That would amount to c. £600! I spoke to phones4u who advised me they "might" pay for half of the contract, so it would still be expensive.

Just buy a payg phone a dump the sim in it and then see out the contract. Then look after your next decent phone.

My brothers girlfriend lets her 2 year old child play with her iPhone4 as a toy, why do people treat there phones as it there cheap, off contract there a fortune !
