O2 Data - Rubbish?

O2 has better coverage here, but vodafone despite patchy cover is far more reliable, very rarely have issues with data whereas on O2 its forever going down/can't connect to server or just really slow.

Vodafone has been by far the best for me. Plus as we don't have a home phone I am a pretty heavy user with the 0845 numbers so I get decent deals. Currently on £10pm for the 900 mins / unlimited texts / 500mb internet sim only for life of contract.

As for reception its been brill on 3G. Even tethering from my SE C510 I could play WOW comfortably in home and out and about. Not that I play anymore but only used to get pings of 120-300ms.

I also use a vodfone dongle instead of home broadband and get decent speeds inc out and about.

Never understand the poor customer service complaints as I always have great CS from them. I suspect a lot of CS complaints are due to customer attitudes. Earlier in the year they hadn't applied my free mins properly on either of my numbers. After about five mins it was resolved with a full bill credit for all calls and rental for the months effected.

But regarding data, been by far the best for consistency and speed for me.

I don't think anyone can top t-mob/orange for coverage now. When they get 3g sharing I'll be a happy man :D

How did you get a deal like that?

Fox, I get the same with my wildfire (2.1) on Orange. Guys in the office with Android phones on various networks seem to.get it too... -ever had the issue on o2 with my iPhone regardless of where in London i was.... Could be an Android issue ?

o2 data is poor, overpriced and charges you an extortion for going over your limit. Avoid.

Switched to Tmobile after > 2 years on o2, and the 3g speeds are a revelation. I cant believe how unbelievably slow o2's 3g speeds are, even with full signal.

However, Im not so sure about normal voice signal - from past experience, Tmobile havent been great.

Didn't have this issue with Voda though?

I've never had this issue on my Desire on O2 though?

Have you got a friend/relative with another O2 SIM you can borrow and see if it's the same?

I had some problems with o2 on my iPhone and they replace the SIM which helped. Worth contacting GiffGaff CS and see if they can swap the sim?

I get perfect HSDPA sometimes but even then I will often request a web page and... nothing happens. The loading bar moves along a bit and thats that, eventually it might load.

The signal strength doesn't indicate how saturated/congested the cell your connected to is.

For example at one of the Orange offices I've been too lately everyone has full HSDPA signal but the cell that provides it is massively congested, therefore everyone struggles to get good data usage.

This tbh happened to me on my recent visit to London village. Full signal but still couldn't get the foot scores :( that's with T mobile. Saying all that a new sim could be worth a try;)

I dont, no.

I would certainly do as suggested by others and get a replacement SIM. Is the problem with the stuck progress bar restricted to one particular area, ie. at home?
