10.5 mbit for £10 a month!

Was having a few disconnection issues which they put down to my line so they dropped my line profile but tat didn't help. After a bit of reading up the Thompson / O2 modem appeared to be utter pants so a quick trip to OCUK and a shiny Netgear router was purchased.

Phoned O2 back up and asked them to reprofile my line from the conservative profile and I went from 7 mbit to 10.5 mbit, I get sustained 1010KB - 1020KB from FTPs

O2 have been very helpful and you get through in 1 ring on a freephone number unlike Virgin who I paid £40 for 20 mbit and had to deal with Indian call centers! which I was charged for the privilege

So if your thinking of changing provider give them a look in

I've been on O2 since January, and Be for about 6 months before that. Recently got my SnR target dropped to 3dB, and the Speedtouch holds 7300-ish sync perfectly. Couldn't be happier for £7.50.

Ive been with o2 (20meg) for about 6 months and never had any problems. Highly recommended!!!!

is there any discernable difference between o2 and be, i'm moving at the end of the month, have been with be for a couple of years, but if i'd be getting the same connection then i might as well go with o2 and save myself a couple of quid a month as they're my mobile provider

There is no difference because they are the same company. O2 supposedly is a bit better support wise because of the UK only call centres (dont hold me to that, it could have changed by now). But i'd go with O2 just for the cheaper cost.

Be support has been excellent from my experience, its still European call centres.

Really? Cool. I just read somewhere abotu O2 UK call centres or something. But go with whatever you feel is best. They are technically the same, so i would recommend O2 over Be.

be's support is brilliant, but i've also never had a problem with o2 support, so i reckon i'll probably go o2 for the saving, may all be irrelevant depending on which side of the city centre i move to, one is enabled but has major contention issues, the other is due to be enabled the day before i move in (we'll see if that happens)

As they are technically the same ISP I'd probably recommend o2 if its cheaper, was just pointing out that call centres/support would not be a deciding factor as from what I hear both are good.

Is that misleading or they are in fact offering 2 different services? Since they are the same company...

They are offering the exact same service, but in slightly different structures. 02 offer 8mb/16mb/20mb Be offer 8mb/24mb. So i'd assume from the 02 sites estimate ( how to they come to that conclusion anyway ? ) they don't think you will get 20mb, but think you will get over 8mb.

Just a guess though

Estimations like that are usually inaccurate anyhow. Post your line stats (sync speed, attenuation, SNR) and we can give you a more accurate idea of your likely final speed.
