Gf is trying to upgrade, she's on a 12 month contract and accepts that she has to go to an 18 month one now. Been with O2 contract for 5 years, spends around £30 a month, yet the cheapest they'll do the renoir for is £100.

You can get the same price if you are a new customer, and if you go to orange on the equivalent tariff its free! She would go to orange but their coverage is generally horrendous, as is 3. I got my N95-8Gb for free on the same tariff 8 months ago!

Used to rate O2, always got some good deals, but now they are seriously overpriced compared with the competition.

It just me who thinks this?

Threaten to leave and talk to retentions. If you can, get details of a better deal elsewhere and see if they'll match it.

You need to be put through to retentions - just renewed with O2 myself and have got a brilliant deal IMO :)

As above, you need to tell them you've what you've seen elsewhere and they'll do there best to match it + give you more.

Can I ask what deal you got? I'm looking to upgrade with o2 fairly soon.

Just leave them then, take out a new contract through mobiles.co.uk or similar and get £40 quidco cashback :)

I did that for my T-Mobile when they couldn't match any deals. Got me a better phone with Orange (Omnia) for an average of 30quid on 18months contract, 600mins, unlimited text. Did that via Dialaphone.

Used them before, just need to remember to photocopy the Bill on month 6 to 12, send it to them and they refund you half the contract price for 6 months.

1200mins, 1000 txt messages, unlimited Blackberry Internet Solution and free Blackberry Bold for £30pm on a 18month contract.

For a new customer that would be £45pm and £50 for the handset so I think that's pretty good? :)

I cracked a deal with O2 last week.

Been with them for over 2 1/2 years contract and a further 2 years as a Pay & Go customer.

I was also on a £30 (Online 30) tariff. After a lot of haggling with their retention rep, I managed to get my tariff (400mins, 750txts) down to the equivalent of £6.67 (400mins, 1000txts, free O2 to O2 calls).

I wanted the Nokia N96 for £99.99-£199.99 as I felt this was a fair price taking into account my customer loyalty and the market price of it from similar retailers/networks/tariffs. However their rep wasn't budging from the £229.99 tag despite my persistence. She fobbed me off to improving my tariff. I mentioned the £100 credit for continuing customers, and she said if I renewed it to 18 months I could get £150 credit. She also halved my tariff (£15/month). So this effectively turned out to be 10 months free billing with the remaining 8 months at £15. Or the equivalent of £6.67/month.

Then I just went out and bought the Nokia N96 for £500. Still cheaper than an 18 month £30 contract + £99.99 phone.

Since your girlfriend has been with O2 for 5 years, I would reccommend for her to haggle harder. :p

Yea I'll pass on the haggle harder tip ;) She can be incredibly feisty when it comes to complaining so i'm suprised she hasnt had much success.

Do O2 do the N96 now? Thought they werent going to stock it?

O2 are rubish now, been with them for over 6 years i've had so so many probs with them the last few weeks. sending me a broken replacement phone, phone to the wrong address, not sending me a phone when they said they had!! not happy!!! tried to get out of my contract last night but they said you cant leave unless you pay the £500 left on my account! (13 months @ £35) cant wait to get out as i've had it with them.

Just to balance the thread a little, I've had no problems with them whatsoever. Nor has my girlfriend. We've ordered at least 2 contract phones each with them online, and they've delivered within 2 days (which I thought was excellent).

They've also sent me 2 free rugby tickets for the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham, offer monthly treats (e.g. 20mins extra a month), and if you manage to crack deals with them like I did, are good value for money.

They also have really comprehensive online billing.

Only problem I've had with them is my girlfriend making international calls to me that went straight to voicemail, and for the month it pumped her bill up to a whopping £150.

I've found O2 to be pretty good. Great reception etc.
I was going to leave them for 3, the 300 mix and match with a K850i which was £15 + £5 for the phone. I told O2 this and they offered me 250 Minutes, 100 texts and the phone for £15 a month...I had it the day it came out too. They've also said that at any point if I find the 250 minutes just aren't enough £5 more a month will get me 500 mins total.

I've been with them since June 2005.

In my area Orange never falls below full reception, O2 you are lucky to get one bar.

Things are changing though, 02 text my brother about network upgrades, he now gets full reception.

Orange also text us about network upgrades. Maybe check their coverage again it might be improved?

Well just seemed to get an ok deal off them for a SE c905. Paying £50 for the phone but getting 1200mins, 1000 txts, and unlimited data for £27pm for the full 18mths.
Originally they wanted £100 for the phone on the £35pm tarrif of 600mins, unlimited txts and didnt want to budge. Just stated other networks offers and threatend to leave and thats the best they would do until after new year.
