O2 internet?

Hello,

Twice now O2 have called me up and offered 20mb broadband (12mb more likely they say), phone + evening and weekend free calls to uk numbers...all for price of £22. There's already a BT line hooked up here so I won't have to pay BT/installation charges at all.

I am currently with Virgin with 10mb cable broadband, phone + weekend free calls for £27 a month.

O2's offer of course looks good on paper, but I've read some reviews and it seems once they have as a customer, they forget about you.

Most of those reviews are rather out dated, and it's not like virgin media are that great either (random speeds all the time, lag in games).

Anyone have had dealings with O2 lately? Around Nottingham perhaps?

I am going to call up Virgin media and tell them O2 are trying to steal me...let's see what Vm will offer to keep me

(last time sky tried the same thing, VM knocked off £10 on the bill, still have that discount).

That's correct Wicksta, £22 is all that I will be paying rent wise.

I had a chat with VM, told them about O2 offering the services for £22 a month, VM said they'll knock £5 off so it'll be £22 for phone, 10mb internet and free weekend and evening calls....that's that then.

With VM I can also upgrade to 50 or 100mb if need be, which I can't with O2 of course.

O2 are supposed to call me, so if they go lower than £22, I'll consider them but what bothers me is the fact that if i move to O2 and they turn out to be total crap, I'll have to move back to VM, who will charge me fees and will treat me as a new customer, and the £10 discount I am already getting, will be lost.

O2 will have to really step up to match that, maybe couple of months worth free internet, you never know (wishful thinking perhaps).

VM do have a fair usage policy but I've yet to hear or see it being inforced, perhaps you really have to go over the top.

O2 said its "unlimited" at first, when I told them that there is no such thing, the guy said it's 100gb a month, and that it's ok if you go over it once a while.
