Can some explain the procedure of this? The reason I'm asking is because I've sold my iPhone to my uncle who lives away and now he says he wants it unlocked. And I'm wondering I ring O2 to get it done if it will work with me not having access to the handset anymore.

Anyone know?

Go onto their website and you can request it to be done. Normally a simple procedure but I've had an absolute nightmare getting mine done. O2 have gone down as the most incompetent team of idiots I've ever had the displeasure of using.

You can also use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom and then live chat. Very easy to do and took a few days. O2 even unlocked it for me even though I hadn't finished my contract yet. They have the best customer service in my experience.

My iphone 4 was on O2 when I had it unlocked, and it was a painless process.

I think it will need your sim card in it if you request the Unlock, but if he requests the Unlock then he should be OK.
