O2, is it just me?

Hello there, I have been using the internet for roughly 5 years now and while I sucked it up and dealt with O2 refusing to turn off interleaving on my line I have now been faced with the problem I am about to show you below. I am not a new computer user and i'm not downloading torrents while doing these tests. This is like clockwork every single day I have these pings and since I play online video games this is absolutely awful. The problem started roughly 3 weeks ago and has been as consistent as ever.

It isn't just you, Be is having capacity problems, mostly on exchanges outside London where they cannot be upgraded for a reasonable cost.

As you are with O2, you probably cannot even speak with Be directly about it or go on their forums :(

What area? Its fine for me

The tipping point for O2 to upgrade their backhaul is more than 80% average utilisation.

Once it hits that, they'll stump up for the extra connectivity.

Until then you just have to live with it. It's not like it costs much anyway...

I am on O2 also. Not that I've really noticed the difference hugely, my router has gradually been syncing at lower and lower speeds over the past few weeks. started at about 11mbps ( where it has been for well over a year) and has gradually gone down to 8.4-7.8

Im just going through the same thing. I'm not with 02 persay, I'm with Fast.co.uk who are excellent. The problem I have is with BT.

For the last 3-4 weeks my speed has been degrading. The Sync speed back int he day used to be 7.2MB, a very good speed for being about 1/2 mile from the exchange.

The past few weeks though the Sync has been right down, the noise ratio was sky high resulting in download speeds of between 54k and 145k.

The key is to keep on their backs. In my case via my ISP. Run the BT speed check every 3 hours where convinient. http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ feedback the details to them.

Get an engineer out, i got mine to change the cable in the junction box and exchange.

I even bougght a new router to prove to them that was not the issue.

The result (and i have my fingers crossed) is that my sync is now 7.6MB down and 832 up. Currently downloading the Crysis demo at 740KBs

Oh dear, now mine has gone bad. Tonight my ping to bbc is 80 ms, in my game server its normally a solid 30 ms, tonight its 90ms.

Not good O2, I'm praying my Virgin cable connection is good tonight.

Be is very slow for me tonight. iPlayer vids stopping every few seconds. :(

Edit. This from the Be site.

Unfortunately 2 of our core links in the North of England are currently down. This may cause slow speeds and high latency due to the congestion at peak times, however, we're working to resolve this asap.
Would explain the speed issues. Someone in Milton Keynes, just up the road from me, also having speed issues.

they seem to be having a lot of problems with core links and similar going down and causing issues of late, really start to wonder if thats the bog standard reply they give when there setup is getting battered.

Im having the same problems in Derbyshire/Staffordshire 130 ms pings most of the time making what I use my connection for useless.
