O2 lag problems

Hello,

Just a quick questions, is anyone having problems (who has o2 as their ISP) with lag spikes during online games?

I haven't been gaming for around 10 months but since I've got back into it I've noticed that I keep getting really bad lag spikes.

I'm on wired connection, I've flushed the DNS, I've opened the ports, disabled router firewall, checked virus scan settings, checked windows firewall settings, updated drivers, got o2 to replace the router, got o2 to flush the settings at the exchange and still no joy.

Not sure what else to try now!

I called o2 today and they were no help as they said there wasn't a problem!

I ran a tracert and got a lot of 'request timed out' could this be a potential problem?

Which package are you on? It might be O2's traffic management system interfering with legitimate traffic.

Try running WinMTR against BBC.co.uk while you game.

Well, I'm with Be (effectively the same network, owned by O2/Telefonica) and haven't had any issues with ping. Generally it never gets worse than 30ms to a UK server.

What IP did you run that traceroute to? You sure it isn't a server-side issue? Diablo 3 in particular was a highly anticipated title.

That was to the eu diablo server. I'm on the all-rounder package. I'll try it to BBC site in a minute and post the results

Run WinMTR while you're gaming and having issues. A single traceroute won't tell us much.

Diablo III will have high pings, it's server related due to the amount of players playing. Blizzard has yet to fix this.
