o2 loss of internet issue

I regularly lose (several times a day) my internet connection.

I'm using the o2 supplied router but don't know if I am losing the connection because the line drops or the router is rebooting itself?

I can obvously see on the router broadband connection info how long the ADSL has been connected but can I see how long the physical router has been "up" for?

Another thing I've observed when it craps out is that the Netgear wireless bridge in the lounge loses its connection the o2 router. This makes me think it's the router rebooting but I don't want to go to the time and expense of replacing it if it's not the case!

Doh, found the info from a google search, basically I needed to login as SuperUser with the password and then I can see when it was powered on.

So under normal circumstances if the line drops would I expect the router to reboot or is the router rebooting and causing the line to drop?

Powered on is 1 minute before the last adsl connection so it's definitely rebooted the router. Just need to know if that's normal or not!

I don't know but i'm constantly getting cut outs with o2. At first it was good but ever since the contract expired the service has got worse and worse. It's a struggle to do normal web browsing let alone online gaming or video streaming. I think it may be a problem with the router because even transferring files from one computer to another is going ridiculously slow.

Sounds like a faulty router. The router should never reboot unless you tell it to, even if the connection drops.

It's either the router being faulty or something that O2 can fix, I can't for the life of me think of the stat that they regularly change which affects your sync speed and reliability - but it causes the symptoms you've described as well.

can anyone make sense of this for me?

sorry for the thread hijack - this seemed like a good place to ask.

You appear to be maxing out a 8000 connection (£7.50 a month?) and the connect appears fine
Is this taken during the hours of daylight of after dark? Generally after dark there is more noise about and the connection tends to drop to a lower connection speed ( it drops out and reconnects at a lower speed)
