o2 router problems

Hey guys,

Been doing some research on my problem and it seems opinion is divided. When i'm on ps3 playing online (fifa for example) i'll get kicked off, or it'll be a slow connection or it will refuse to connect to certain people. I've tried endless solutions so I wouldnt bother wasting your time further by asking for any.

Instead, I hear the router can be the problem. I've looked around for a new router compatible with o2 and the Netgear DGN2000 seems like the best bet. Price is an issue for me I dont want a state of the art router just one thats stable and reliable.

Any thoughts on routers guys? is the DGN2000 good?

Thanks!

I'm looking for one to replace the Wireless Box as well.

Seems either the Netgear DGN2000 or D-Link DSL-2740B are the best to go for.

I did have NAT problems on Xbox Live, but they seem to have sorted themselves out with a hard reset of the Wireless Box.

The O2 router has been playing up recently (although, touch wood, its been good the past few days). I would like to upgrade to Wireless N though.

yea my box is the latest one with N and it's still temperamental at the best of times! I'm probably gonna go with the dgn2000 i think. Although may be switching isp with o2 increasing their prices.

Yea same. My 360 is connected via ethernet atm, but its moving into another room, so if I could take advantage of its built-in Wireless N, it would help.

I'm tempted by BT Infinity, its the only other available option to me (other than standard ADSL and O2/Be LLU). Dunno if I can justify the price increase though.

yea we're thinking about virginmedia at our end, get tv and phone included as well, with cashback and offers it works out quite reasonable. We had ntl before so hopefully virgin will have improved it slightly

Tempted by BT eh  I can only assume you've never been with BT then ;)

Im also having problems with my o2 router, but with my Xbox360

I get this 'Strict NAT' error even if i disable the firewall on the router

I had BT Yahoo ages ago and ADSL24, so I'm familiar enough with their services.

While I wouldn't touch their standard ADSL stuff, Infinity is pretty decent other than the 300Gb limit.

I used to rave about Virgin media until I finally got their 20mb service after a measly 4 mb service from BT (consistently good connection with low ping in retrospect)

Safe to say during 1pm -1am the internet is pretty much non existant and after 5 months of calls on the phone with them, they keep changing to fix date (they know the area has high utilisation) . At this rate i would have an average of 0.1 mb for the 12 months (ie web pages usually time out and not load).

Honestly, I don't trust any of the providers anymore. If your lucky, you get a decent connection.
