My contract is up for renewal shortly and I'm thinking I may keep my old phone (a Touch HD) for a few more months to save some money but looking at the sim only plans on the O2 website they appear to all lack the ability to add data to them. I think I remember there being a sim only for smartphones deal, if so what does it offer?

At the moment I don't really need that many texts or minutes (200 of each maybe) but also need data, what sort of cost monthly would that be?

Thanks! Where did you find that lol:o, I looked last night (admittedly not very hard...) and could only find the standard sim only deals... That 300 minuute one looks just the ticket, thanks. :)

There's a drop down menu when your on the sim only page, for smartphones, blackberrys, 12 month contracts etc. :p

Erm.. yeah... :o :p

if you're happy to be locked in for 12months you save £5/month, that's the one I went for(£15/month 'for smartphones') end of feb when quidco where offering the £50/£100 cashback(I'm still waiting for an earning enquiary as mine didn't track).

I'm only looking to get it for a couple of months until I decide what phone I want (and have some more money). Never quite understood the 12 month sim only contracts tbh, although I guess they have some use to people (would be cheaper to get a proper contract and sell the phone unused in most cases).

If you can get decent signal with t-mobile then i'd recommend looking at the virgin media sim only plan.£20 a month and you get 800 mins, unlimited texts and internet with 2gb allowance.

That means changing providors and TBH I don't need any more than a couple of hundred texts and mins so it would be a bit pointless. :)

speak to retentions/renewals when your contract is almost up, they seem quite flexible when it comes to moving you to a sim only contract (at least they were a year ago when I did) got a significantly better deal than was available on the site, and seemingly better than what's available now

I will be doing that, just not sure if it's that good idea as I don't want to lose "credit" when I get a new 18 month contract. Ie. will the loyalty bonus be better spent on the new 18month contract and top of the range phone or a few months of simplicity...:p
