I had been eagerly waiting for BT Infinity and was pleased to find out our exchange should be done in June. Alas it would appear I am on a cabinet that isn't part of this years rollout.

I am out of contract with O2 and am I wondering if it is worth going over to Sky (who enabled LLU in my exchange the month after I went to O2 LLU). It will save me money even when considering the O2 mobile discount but is the service any good?

I get 10Mb down/1Mb up on average and assume I would get the same with Sky. Has anyone made the same move or have any experience with Sky with regards to reliablilty? Any other options I should consider that don't involve Virgin?

A difficult decision to make. There's nothing wrong with Sky Unlimited and it's certainly superior to O2's current packages unless you're on legacy. The Sky contract length will be 12 months meaning you wouldn't have to wait too long if they do enable your cabinet after the exchange goes live.

Thanks for the replies. I am on the O2 legacy package, so if I stay with them I don't want to risk getting moved over to the new setup by renewing for a discount.

I am out of contract on my TV package with Sky so it might give me a negotiation tool if I am willing to move my phone and BB over to them. I would love to have the F1 channel but it isn't worth me paying for the HD pack as I don't have an HDTV. A deal might help offset the cost.

Time to look at the figures :).

Don't forget to check for cashback offers.
I did forget to look actually :p. There is a nice one for £130 + 12 months 1/2 price BB if you take HD and BB/Talk but it expires in the next 37 hours ish. Not sure how quickly O2 send MACs through, so hopefully I can catch it

Switch to sky. I went with o2 a couple of years back because they were the closest I could find to unlimited - fine for 9 months, at which point they added a 40 gig policy and started sending ****-o-grams about "abuse". Dropped them like a disease infested rodent and would never trust them again.

Unlimited BT wholesale package for £15-30 per month? :p:rolleyes:

My friend made the same mistake as you despite having told him not to move to O2.

To be fair to O2 they have been very good until the problems of the past week causing slow browsing response etc. The only other issue I have is that my O2 Box v2 has a tendancy to lockup when it gets warm (even though it has plenty of ventilation).

Sky offered me a cracking deal if I signed up to the HD pack. 1/2 price on BB for 6 months, 1/2 price on HD pack for 8 months and a 1TB HD+ box for £49, so I can replace an ageing multiroom box in my daughter's room with our existing HD+ box. Unfortunately I don't have any money in the bank until the morning and he can't save the deal on their system (something retention dept. can do but CS can't, as far as I can tell). I will have to see if I can get hold of the same guy again, as I don't think most CS agents would drop the price on the 1Tb box so far without a new multiroom contract.

O2 Access has always been poor.

CRacking deal at the moment using cashback, Topcashback is the one I use, plus remember you can get referrals for the cashback sites and also sky, unfortunatley however were not allowed to give links or anythign on teh forum.

Mines been rock solid even tho I've beasted the connection at times lol, definatley no FUP policy or throttling going by my use :p

O2 Access has always been poor.

I made sure I never went near that but I did hear a lot of negative comments about it and most other cheap non-LLU services.

The good news is I am getting a callback from the Sky CS who arranged the deal in the morning get everything setup. The savings aren't quite as good as the better cashback deals but I won't have to wait for a payout and I get a new 1TB box for the price of a second hand ebay 500GB box.

Needless to say, I am very happy with the experience. I didn't even have to say I was thinking of leaving :P

Sky rang me back this morning and I am switching over to their BB Unlimited and Talk. The full deal offered adn accepted is:

Phone line rental and Anytime calls
Broadband Unlimited - Free for 6 months
HD pack - 1/2 price for 8 months
Movies - 1/2 price for 6 months (no contract)
1Tb HD+ box £49.99 (self setup, no delivery or install fees)

Couldn't have asked for more and very happy with the Sky's CS. Can't wait to try out Anytime+ and see what movies are on there :).

Another bonus is I won't miss out on FTTC when it does get enabled here and stick with Sky.

Was that as a BRand new customer mate?
Whats the monthly charges on that?

I currently have:

Bb Unlimited
Landline Rental
Standard HD+ Box
HD Package
All viewing packages other than sport/ESPN
Movies

My cost is going to £70.60 a month before call charges.

bit of a pig considering we've watched like 3 movies in the year we've had sky and for the viewing package... The only think I've watched is like Documentaries in HD every now and again lol. The missus has the box recording non stop like :p

If you can give me an idea of what your paying would arm me well for a chat with Cancellations :)

No probs mate. I have been with Sky for about 8 years with a couple of short breaks due to finances. Until today I was out of contract an all my services but now consist of:

Entertainment Pack + 2 x Multiroom = 45.00 p/m
Phone + anytime Talk = 17.50 p/m
BB Unlimited = 0.00 (6 months, then 7.50 p/m)
HD Pack = 5.13 (8 months, then 10.25 p/m)
Movies = 8.00 (6 Months, then 16.00 p/m if kept)

That makes it £75.63 for the first six months, going up to 96.25 after eight months if i keep the Movie channels. I probably won't keep them, so that leaves at £80.25 for the last 4 months of the contract.

We had the 500Gb HD+ box in the room (which I got just over a year ago for free by taking out the HD pack but I needed a new box and didn't have £60 for a recon+engineer visit). Our old refurb Sky+ box was being used for my son's multiroom box (very unreliable normally but managed with 1 input) and my daughter had one of the white slimline boxes that is a couple fo years old.
The prices to upgrade boxes online were way too high to consider but this deal was too good to miss.

I was paying £45 to Sky and about £27 to O2 so we are getting a lot more for very little extra outlay. It is a lot of money but neither my wife or I smoke, rarely drink and never have evenings out, so I am happy with it. :)

bit late to the party, but I'm happy with my sky hd, broadband and calls package. Currently we pay £72.50 a month for multiroom with 3 boxes (2 x hd and 1 x Sky+) with movies and sport on all three. Broadband and Sky talk are also included, and we get unlimited calls up to 1 hour free and calls to mobiles are pretty reasonable. We only get 7 meg down and 605 up but we have aluminium wires here and no-llu is worse (5 meg down and 256 up most of the time)

That's a good deal 3dcandy, given that you have Movies and Sports. I will be happy if I get around the same speed I had with O2 (10-ish down/1 up).

yeah, not bad.we're happy, and I like anytime+ too, throws up some good stuff to stream. only problem is I had to get a new telly so we could have a 32" hd set in the bedroom :)
