If your not worth it to them you cant force them to give you anything other than a PAC code

I think most phone companies are tightening their purse strings it seems, its harder and harder to get a "good" deal, or anything half decent on a 12 month contract! I think in a few years we'll be expected to take out 24 month contracts as standard! I'm personally sick to death of my 18 month contract with t-mobile even if i do like the actual deal. My next is without doubt 12 months...

ye the phones don't even last 12months let alone 18months! I really don't see any advantages of 18month contract, you save about £5 a month but miss out on your upgrade.

You just need to keep trying, I only really wanted to get a deal on my handset. The first 3 people I spoke to weren't playing ball at all. Then I finally got a good lad who was actually quite helpful and I got more than I was even wanting. :)

ill keep trying but they leave notes on my file about what there "best offer" is, the evil people!

and if you dont mind me asking what sort deal did you get? is it anything like im after. Also after the E65 as my next phone.

I did have...

£18.99 a month
12 month Contract
500 texts
and 75 minutes to any network, anytime

I got the same except minutes is now 100 mins anytime etc
and 1mb GPRS

Plus phone went from the 150 they wanted down to 90.

It's not great but I don't use that many minutes etc anyway lol :)

I work for Carphone Warehouse - O2 Customer Services.

My current deal is as follows:

I purchased my phone sim free, a Nokia 8600 Luna for £336 with my employee discount.

I went to O2's website and ordered a sim only contract, which is a rolling 30 day contract which I can cancel at any time.

I get, 600 mins, 100 text. But wait, the sweet part is this. I also get Saturday Sunday and Monday's calls FREE to any network, any time. This means that 3/7th of the week consists of free calls. That's almost half the month! And I only pay £25 a month.

That deal is available to everyone. I strongly recommend it. I _HATE_ being tied down into any mobile phone contract.

TheCrow, when you ring up your customer services, sound adamant that you wish to disconnect. When you call to enquire about an upgrade, you are put through to the upgrades department which works on commission. The disconnections department, now called Loyalty at O2 at the Carphone Warehouse, is able to do deals like free line rental for a year. !!!Don't tell the customer service advisor you want to upgrade!! Wait till they try to 'save' you as a customer....Then ask "well, if I stayed with you, what deal can you do for me?" ;)

what sort of offer was that for/from? you can get some crazy tariffs but not many well balanced ones.

That was because my contract was up for renewal. I told them I now have a contract with Orange and a work phone so I had no need for a third line. The lad on the phone said he would reward me as I had been with 02 for so many years and give me free line rental for a year (essentially a sim only deal). No free phone but it means I have a spare if I ever go over my minutes with orange/ battery runs out (more likely than the minutes going with my n95!!!) or I misplace a phone or something...

I walked away this upgrade with 600minutes, 1000text, free weekend calls.
Entirely usless, really, walked away from which provider, how much are you paying a month now, how much were you paying a month before hand for what deal? Did you overspend every month etc... Theres a little bit more to phone contracts than that mate sorry to break it :p

Ye o2 seem a bit crap now unless you spend near to your allotted allowance near the end of your contract run, then ring up retentions direct and quote a great deal (nothing too silly) and stick to your guns.

Im starting another thread, as i know there are plenty of people who upgrade around this time like i do, and have a good barter with retentions.

Thanks for the advice i may have sounded too adamant as they were going to send me my PAC :p

Go for Virgin Media mobile! I pay £10 a month for a no minimum term contract that gives me 300 free minutes (any network) and 300 free texts. If I don't use them all in one month, they roll over to a maximum of two months' worth in total so I get up to 600 minutes and 600 texts.

I love it :)

Surely its upto 900min + 900txt?

Month 1 - 300m / 300txt
- Roll Over Month 1
Month 2 - 600m / 600txt
- Roll Over Month 2
Month 3 - 900m / 900txt

settled on a crap deal but need a new phone NOW as mine is broken!

18month...boooo!!!!
£30
400min (not including non-geo booo!!) also no roll over i think
1000text
1mb gprs
E65 for free

really not happy with the deal, but everywhere is **** this year!

last year when my contract with O2 ran out i rang them to cancel it and told them i had found a better one for cheaper (which was true) and they said they would do me a deal since I had been with them a year and dropped my monthly chage from £25 to £15 :D

About to do it again and hopeing for it dropping to £10!
