hi,

just got connected with o2 and im running at 64/128 and they say this is due to the 10 day period so they can work out my max speed.

am i likely to notice an increase as the end of the 10 day period gets closer or will it stay as it is cos they are just getting information off the line ?

cheers,

That's it. Your sync rate is unlikely to increase significantly whether you're within the 10 day period or not though.

64/128?

Can you post your full line stats please?

just borrowed this off another o2 post in this forum :

DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 37.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.5 / 10.0

main difference i notice compared to what i remember off mine is that the dsl type is 992.1 and the line attenuation Down is something like 65.

will post my router info when i get home.

right, readings off the router :

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 64 / 128
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 9.5/11.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31.5/62.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 27.0/29.0

easy to spot the problem

Your SN margins should be somewhere around 6, so that is where your speed has gone. You'll need to give o2 a call to reset it to its default values

Shouldn't your modulation be G.992.5 as well?

Thats what mine is on Be*

/edit ddnt realise it was normal dsl

he's not on adsl2+ though is he? he seems to think o2/be equipment isn't in his exchange and if so then those snr figures are about right, i had around 32db on 8mb adsl and now got 3db on 22mb adsl2+

seen some have 992.5/992.3 but im on bt equipment not o2's so might make some difference :(

cheers bee glad im not going mad :)

giving o2 another call see what they say, would have 256 not 64 would be the minimum they would start at.

That's not even remotely correct. The only way you'd have a 32dB SNR margin at 8128kbps on ADSL would be if you lived in the exchange with shielded cable.

Try restarting your modem and see what it connects at. If it's the same, phone O2.

G.992.1 is ADSL
G.992.3 is ADSL2
G.992.5 is ADSL2+

kk, whatever you say, i do live quite close to the exchange and it was certainly around the 30db mark (downstream), was over 2 years ago though now

Attenuation maybe. That value for an SNR margin would be extremely unusual on a rate adaptive service.

nah i've got like 16db attenuation (down), if i had 30db snr i certainly wouldn't be getting 22mb down. i'm on annex m with 2mb upload so that took a little of my downstream sync

quality response from o2, just had a call they've had it worked on and all should be ok, checked details and now reading Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 1,984.
