Does anyone here live or work in London?

I am curious as to what other peoples experience is with 02's 3G coverage.

It occurred to me recently that I cant recall seeing 3G coverage on my iphone, it always has the E symbol, or something else other than 3G.

Does anyone get 3G coverage in London? I live in West London (Maida Vale) and work near Old St. At home and at work I never get anythingg better than E.

I guess I am missing out! I have been told that 02's 3G coverage is awful, but it shouldnt be that bad surely? Could my iphone be broken? (3G is deffinaetly enabled).

Always have 3G in London (work there), and can't recall not having

Ive got an iPhone on O2 and the 3G coverage is shocking around my area; in Richmond, Twickenham and Teddington I don't even receive Edge, Ive got 2 friends who live around here with an iPhone on O2 who also get the same problem. Sometimes when I'm around other areas of London I do receive 3G though.

Considering internet is the main thing I use my iPhone for I feel Ive wasted my money somewhat, luckily only 5 months left on my contract and needless to say I wont be going anywhere near O2 again, back to Orange or Vodaphone for me.

Yes, using an iPhone. Places of note I've used 3G in last three 3 days were Canary Wharf, Southbank, Kings Cross. Granted there are times where I have sucky signal but it's generally when in a bad place, somewhere like All Star Lanes or somewhere equally shielded.

just to confirm, in the place on the screen where my phone either has wireless signal, or a letter like E, if I was getting 3G reception it should say 3G there right?

thought so, i honestly dont recall ever seeing it. I suspect something may be buggered with my phone settings.
If I have a 3G enabled phone I should be able to receive the signal right? its not a case that 02 can choose which customers receive 3G reception?

Sure you've got a 3G SIM? Could be that you have an older SIM card. Obviously ignore this if you got a new SIM with the phone :) .

Don't know about the iPhone but on my Nexus One there's an option in the settings to turn off 3G (to save bandwidth) so have you checked for that?

O2's 3g coverage in London is absolutely awful and that's not a exaggeration. Indoors I rarely ever get 3g, outdoors sometimes for a brief moment and switches back to Edge. In the City I get 3g sometimes and believe it or not, I even stuggled to get in 3g signal in Ox. Street! Shocking to be honest, it's not like I'm in a middle of a forest or something.
