OBC fuel consumption readings

Try and use the same petrol station twice, or better still, the same pump
I do. My local Shell is the cheapest by far as it doesn't have a shop.
I might stick in 95 and see what happens, maybe the OBC will get more accurate :p

As for the 'miles remaining', I never pay attention to that unless I'm running on fumes. I know how much I can get from a tank after having a car for long enough.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much. Or I was just lucky that the Leon was 99% accurate.
Either way, it's adjustable on the BMW so I can have a fiddle one day.

Any change with regards to tyre size (be it through changing the tyre or both the wheel and the tyre, resulting in a larger or smaller overall rolling radius) will affect OBC figures considerably, along with poor servicing or slightly off running.

The OBC on my e36 was hopelessly inaccurate, reading zero range yet happy to run & run..

On the other hand, I recall my Dad getting it in the neck a few years back, his OBC said about 40miles range, apparently he said to mum that "it'll be fine, they always have a reserve"

A few hours later, after the AA had been out to rescue his out of fuel car, he conceeded that they are not as accurate as he thought!

Mum still reminds him of this at every oppertunity! :D

The one in the 330d seems pretty much spot on when compared with the good old manual calculation method.

Likewise it seems to predict range pretty well too, if anything it is a touch conservative as I've driven well over 10 miles past "---".

The LCR I'm not so sure about, it seems to just make it up as it goes along, reading both high and low whenever it feels like it.

Assuming you dont use the odometer to determine your driven miles for DIY MPG calcs.... which very few will do.
