OBD Software & iPhone

Hi all,

I have an engine management light come up on a family members car.

I bought this from Amazon (ELM 327)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-D...ie=UTF8&qid=1388251889&sr=1-1&keywords=ELM327

Now, lots of poeple recommend Torque but this is an Android only app. So two questions:

1.) What is recommended for the iPhone?
2.) Does my iPhone need to be jailbroken?

Thanks

With your iphone in standard form apple says no to you using anything like that via Bluetooth! You need the much more expensive wifi version to do anything! Iphone obd app is also a lot more expensive.

Sorry!

I've just sent a text to someone who uses the wifi one with iphone to ask what app he used as I've forgotten - will report back.

In the mean time - you need to manually assign an ip address and default gateway when you use that dongle! If you read the instructions it will tell you... I set up a friends and didn't ..eventually we figured it out!

He says he uses dash command - though its not cheap!

Edit : Wait for other suggestions - it looks a bit naff to me!

Do you have nothing with android on it? Torque is so much better value!

Nope

Dash Command is excellent. I have it on my iPhone but I also use Torque on Android. IMO Dash Command is a more polished app. Torque looks like it was thrown together by a kid in his basement, who's partially sighted.
