Obduction - Myst style game by Cyan - 4 Days Left!

I saw that nobody had mentioned this game on here so I thought I would :)

If any of you remember those old Myst games Myst/Riven or the others in that series; Exile, Revelation, Uru, End of Ages. Well the company behind Myst, Cyan are hoping to make another game with the same game style (Puzzle, Exploration) called Obduction. And because Cyan nearly got closed down this is a pretty huge thing for them.

I would love to see more games like this on the over-saturated gaming market where all the games seem similar. A game that relies on good story-telling and intelligence rather than reflex type games like shooters. Not that there is anything wrong with those I love those too :D. Just getting a bit tired of the same old :o.

So they started a kickstarter to see if their fans would help them make another game:

But it looks like it only has 4 days left to get 150k for it to happen :( I hope it makes it! What do you guys think of another game like this?

How does this kick starter thing work if you donate but it doesn't reach its goal? Might pledge as my old man used to love the myst games

What Neil said, I think the way it works is you pay the money then when it doesn't reach it's goal it gets returned to you. Looks like it has 150 to go and 4 days so it's going to be a close one!

I've just come across this on Steam.

Looks really good and the review I've found are very promising:

It’s a special thing when a game gifts you a superior experience without traditional or prescribed story mechanics, and from that perspective Obduction prevails completely. Some of the puzzles and paths can become overused and tiring after a while, but on the whole it stretches the mind in the right ways. For what it sets out to do, it does it pretty perfectly, and I think both fans and newcomers alike will appreciate its ingenuity.

Obduction succeeds in almost everything it sets out to do in its 10 to 20 hours of play. It succeeds in the way it tells its lightly sketched, emotionally evocative story. It succeeds in its goal of presenting authentic-feeling alien worlds. But when it comes to providing players fair, satisfying challenges and the epiphanies that they crave, Obduction doesn’t just succeed; it triumphs and proves itself a worthy successor to the Myst name.

Just come across this and was wondering if anyone has tried it yet?
It sounds like some patching is going on at the moment and while it's got a very positive review status on Steam we know how unreliable they are in the first few weeks after release,

So whats it like?

Just finished this - loved every second. I was never one for the old point and click adventures, but I really enjoyed stuff like Portal, so I gave this a whirl. Obduction is a beautiful game to look at and to play. It has the right mix of difficulty IMO. I'm not sure if it's me being older, but I found stuff like Myst eh.. mystifying when I tried them all those years ago. I did have to consult a guide 2 times though, only because I'd made mistakes or false assumptions.

I'd recommend it to anybody.
