Obesity

I was more shocked where Japan was in the underweight category to be honest.
Underweight or 'just normal?...'
I'm not at all surprised to be honest.
Just walking down a high street, when you actually make a conscious effort to look you'll see more overweight people than not.
That's true. Overweight seems to be just normal now, and it doesn't even need to be a conscious effort to see it. It's the 'thin' people that stand more to me.

I recently watched a program on Channel 4 called 'Around the World in 80 weighs':

On Episode 2 they showed Tonga, and in particular a young girl who had both legs amputated because of her diabetes, and she still hadn't changed her ways. I can't understand people who won't lose weight after getting a health scare.

(It wasn't helped that Tongans are quite poor and can't afford to go to the doctors and hospitals - She could have easily saved both legs by getting infections sorted)
I watched that, quite shocking really. I have a feeling that one woman in it ( I eat what I like) isn't going to lose much tbh. I think they did group weigh ins just so they wouldn't hurt anyones feelings...

It seems to be a cultural thing NOT to be fat in Japan, which is a good thing really.

Yes, I am a fat 127 kg lardbutt. Too much food and too little exercise.
Have you thought about making changes, or are you just happy / used to it now (Not a dig btw, I'm currently a stone overweight and sorting it out through lifestyle changes. I actually feel uncomfortable being overweight)

Don't tell me I am wrong, tell the experts who came up with this formula. Who are you to tell them they are wrong? What are your qualifications exactly?

Which I why I said walking, if it's too hard, slow down, walk longer to make up for the slower pace. I never said you need to sweat either, just move. It takes energy to move....so move.
People have to want to move though, when it's easier for a lot of them to just order a Big Mac and get it delivered.

You wouldn't be shocked to see chaps this size just milling about B&M
I had to walk on the road to get round one lumbering slowly along today on my walk. At least he had some (badly fitting) clothes on. Can't wait for the summer when they all walk round with their tops off and their gut hanging out.

I do feel some sympathy for some parents though. Some kids are just amazingly stubborn when it comes to food and particularly veg. The parents don’t want them to go hungry so they relent and in go the chicken dippers. A pal of mine had a boy who would rather go hungry than eat anything other than the usual kids convenience foods.
Parents still have responsibilities. Kids are on junk food from a very early age these days (they have high chairs in McDonalds...) and it's downhill from there.

Keto/carnivore takes serious discipline and commitment, so trying to make it the cure for the obesity epidemic isn't going to work, people are obese because they have no discipline, and a billion people are not going to stick with it.
There's now the same militancy around carnivore as there is around veganism.

I’ve never paid much attention to my actual weight, but way more attention to my waist size.

I found that so long as I stick between 32” and no bigger than 34” everything is fine.
And as long as you're not 5'2" it probably is. :p
I'm down to 34" trousers now from a 36" and feel a lot better for it. Still have a way to go though.
