Object tracking in MATLAB

Hi,

Can anybody recommend any techniques I could research that would assist object tracking in MATLAB?

Most I have found seem to require a stationary background (Which can then be "subtracted" from following images/frames) however in my application the background will also be varying.

Any recommendations how I can write a script to track an object, in an avi, with a moving background?
