Just got this today (giving it a 2nd chance).

Does it still have the caching problem? (which I think killed a couple of 360's if you believe the owners!)

Or has an update fixed this now? If it still has it, how do I clear the cache? (I can never remember!)

Thanks

AFAIK it still relied heavily on the caching.

TO clear the cache just hold any button (ABXY) between putting the disk in and the bethesda softwarks logo and it should clear. Though there is no message that tells you it done it.

I think it was only really VIRII on here that had issues with his xbox after getting oblivion. Could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time.

im interested to know the whole deal with this, what was up with Oblivion on the X360?

as far as i know, all it is, is that it used the cache. heavily. but it wouldn't clear it automatically so after a few hours gameplay performance would get a bit choppy, until the cache was cleared.

There is no caching problem. For a tiny tiny number of people the cache would get screwed up, and so there was a way to clear it, but it is meant to only be done when the game stops working.

Some people claim that every game killed their 360. No, it was just that oddly enough, they were playing a game when it died.

absolutely fantastic game IMO, one of the best I have ever played. I never even started the main quest either, did the dark brotherhood, arena and fighters guild then got an offer I couldn't refuse for my 360. getting annother one now though!

I've just bought it for the 360 after owning the PC edition. Played it for about 5 hours so far and no problems at all.

I've put in over 100 hours. My wife on her account has put in over 60. I've only cleared the cache on mine once and never had a lock up or problem. One person has a 360 problem on a specfic game and suddenly there's a major catastrophic issue.

The moral. Playing Oblivion, the winner of several 360 game of the year awards, will not break your 360, or your tv, or your leg.

Maybe your social life though :D
