Oblivion crashes on exit

bought it quite recently and i love the game and have the mods installed that people recommend from the other threads, but every time i go to exit it always crashes until i ctrl-alt-del and have to go into task manager to close it and it tells me the program has stopped responding. im using windows vista 64 and have tried running as an administrator but no luck.

any one else had this problem and any advise on how to fix it?

i also have it patched to the latest version.

Always happens, or at least nearly always. Instead of ctrl alt del, you can alt tab to the crash box and hit enter to close it.

just checked it on mine and have a big list like yours. ill try and live with it then unless there is a fix and alt tabbing it would be less of a pain i suppose, cheers anyway!
 
As far as I know there is no fix, mine does it as well. However one way to stop it crashing is to save the game and then wait 10 seconds before you exit. It still takes ages to exit but it doesn't actually crash the game.

As he says - wait a while from the last save before exiting. But the longer the game runs (in a session), the more likely this is to happen. After about two hours it's near certain.

I thought it was just me but then I found out it might be the drivers for my Xonar (as apparently they have fixed a crashing issue in Oblivion with their latest beta drivers.)

However, I will give the wait 10 seconds before exiting a trial.
 
ok cheers anyways for the replys i did try the ten second thing and no luck!

i can live with it anyway as im enjoying the game so much it would be a shame for me to stop playing over something like that.

at the mo im doing the side quests and have put the main quest on hold for a bit so its taking slightly longer to complete! lol....
 
Does it to me as well, seems to be the cracked .exe that im using to avoid having the disk in the drive. Annoying, but nothing major - agreed, game is too good.

Just whupped Mannimarco.... epic fight, considering he was summoning a Lich, a Skeletal warrior and a wraith - at the same time!! :eek: Yoik.... thats OOO for you...

My Frost Atronach handed down a can of whup-ass on them tho :D
