Love Oblivion, theres no game out there that comes anywhere close to it but the XBox version has just done my head in.

Got the game and played around 20 hours into it. It then froze and i thought nothing of it and restarted the console. Couple of minutes into the game froze again, this time saying 'clean disc with clean cloth' and that was it from then on, couldnt get beyond 30 secs after loading a game for it to crash and chuck up this dirty disc error.

Took the game back to the retailer and asked for a new copy, chap said nah, it'll be the drive in your machine knackered so they gave me a new XBox instead.

Went home with my new machine and that night tried Oblivion again, 2 mins in, guess what, crashed and asking me to clean the frickin disc again. Took the game back and this time they begrudgingly gave me a new copy so i've now got a brand new XBox and brand new copy of Oblivion. Nice one i thought, time for a serious Oblivion sesh. Fired it up and aaaargh, guess what, loaded a game and it immediately crashed and died. Several restarts later finally gave up, realising it was never going to work.

Several KB's later and having tried all the cache clearing, button holding down combinations i could find had to admit defeat and wipe all my hard earned savegames. This sorted the issue and i now have Oblivion running fine........until the next time it decides to randomly mangle all my savegames and lose 20+ hours of gameplay.

For this reason, and according to MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921271/en-us even though my 360 has a 20 gig hard drive slapped onto the side of it i've had to shell out another 20+ quid on a 64mb memory card to play a game. Unbelievable.

weird, played countless hours on it and had no problems. I tend to get into it for a week or 2 then completely give up on it for donkeys. dont like RPGs much on a console...nothing will compare to Phantasy Star Online!

Crashes all the time for me. Hasn't got to the point of losing any save games yet though, touch wood.

Thinks its the manufacturing process on some 360 discs, Oblivion and Gears of War come to mind instantly. The original Morrowind suffered from Dirty Disc errors as well.
