Hi guys, sorry for the rather vague title. I'm having issues with my install of Oblivion. I've played on this loads, 100 hours or so with no problems whatsoever.

Recently when I went to play on it I noticed that there was no music playing. Other sounds were fine, just missing the music. After about five minutes of play the game locks up. For example if I'm running, the character will just keep on running and no keys will work to stop him. Can't even quit, have to rely on good old reliable Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times with no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated as I've wasted too much time on this game to give up on it now.

First thing I would try is backing up your saves and re-installing the game.

Failing that I have no idea, would be dreading to think it's a problem with the PC.

that happened to me i found that just quitting and restarting sorts it. If not restarting the comp fix's it :D

Cheers for the quick replies guys, I'll keep plugging away. My other attempts at fixing it have involved shouting and shaking my fist at it, I'll keep trying that too! :D At least it makes me feel better.

Having read up a lot on various Oblivion problems - i finally bit the bullet and upgraded my soundcard to a low-end X-Fi version from a somewhat antiquated (but perfectly good) Soundblaster live 5.1 - and behold, all ye problems of BSOD were magically vanished!!

Try running it with your soundcard physically removed, if you have a Soundblaster - and see if you get the same problem
