Oblivion Game of The Year Edition Install (PS3)

Hi,

gona get this game but have a couple of questions:

1) I already have the original Oblivion installed so will I be able to use my old game saves?

2) How do you install it, will I have to delete the current Oblivion install?

There is no install on a PS3. Your old saves will work fine.

I'm sure it has an install, I have 4.5gb of data on my HD.

Emlyn_Dewar! Yes I have it on PS3 and PC. I don't really use my PC at the moment and it's a lot cheaper to buy this then a new graphics card.

I'm pretty impressed with the PS3 version.

It does install some data, yes, in a behind-the-scenes caching sort of way (if memory serves me correct!) but that shouldn't be a problem. Just delete the Oblivion Game Data if you're worried and it will recopy it across. Note the Game Data is in a different section to your game saves, I think.

Your save files may not work as, being different versions of the game, they may have different save ID's. (So the game wouldn't recognise the standard oblivion save). I wouldn't worry about any game data you have on there already as the GOTY version will make its own if it needs to.

Apparently there's a bug in the GOTY version where if you become a vampire you can't complete the quest to turn yourself back to normal, I don't know if this has been fixed though... Just something to watch out for.

No, that bug isn't fixed and it never will be unfortunately. The remedy is to cure yourself of any pre-vampirism right away or to load your game with the original Oblivion and then go through the cure quest. This is why I say your game files are interchangeable between Oblivion ordinary and Oblivion GotY.

I am aware of the vampire bug. From what ic1male is saying then it's looking good, if you can interchange saves then it should work.

andshrew, I think if you have different region games then it won't work. ie: region 2 Oblivion game save and try to install region 1 game of the year edition.
