Oblivion mods - help me and the missus out!

Hi guys

I know there have been threads on Oblivion mods before but I'm after some specific ones that will change parts of the game without affecting it too much (as OOO does) so I wondered if someone could recommend some mods based on my descriptions.

1. No Scaling levelling.I would like the world NOT to level with me - I'm level 20 at the moment and want to blast crabs across the map in one hit and still be challenged by very powerful enemies that aren't scaled to my level...bandits shouldn't carry glass weapons for example. Minotaurs (and everything else) should have one hardness level, they shouldn't take as long to kill when I have upgraded my magic abilities, they should be quicker to kill then!

Eventually I want to be walking across the map killing any nasties without bother (powering through as a mage levelling up the magic skills).

2. More interesting cities
I remember years ago when I played I had a city mod installed, well two actually. The first enhanced the cities - the Imperial City had a second level with a bakery and superb magic shop on the second level, with a spiral staircase to get there.

Also the doors were always open to the cities - no loading screen to enter them.

3. Improved UI
There was a UI mod I used to use, I think it was called DarkUI...would it be DarnfieldUI? It made all the items smaller which was better for a hi-res monitor.

4. Improved graphics on people and clothes
Finally I would like the game to look better, environments and most importantly people and clothes (I'm playing through with the missus - clothes suddenly matter!).

I've installed all the unofficial patches for the game of the year version but I'm a bit green (can't remember) after that...will I need to install mod managers before I install anything?

Finally, will installing any mods now mess with my character? We've spent 20+ hours on this latest venture over the last couple of weeks so we don't want to knacker it up!

Many thanks in advance from both of us for any suggestions! :)

Best to start off here mate- http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18247684

Mods for all that you have mentioned are discussed and there is probably advice on how to install them as well

It has been years since i last played around with mods for Oblivion but when i play it again that will be the first thread i look for.

ps Darnified UI is the best ui by a mile.

Ah brilliant, thanks! I'll have a good read. :D

Must get round to finishing that before Skyrim hits.

That's exactly what I'm doing, I've had it for four years played it through twice before but never finished it, I think I lost my saves the first time and screwed it up somehow the second time.

Oh so true picture

For shame Neil, you're usually so helpful with games and mods etc. :p:D

Couldn't be more accurate...

The thing is, magic is so overpowered you can power through enemies even with scaling. I suppose if you really wanted you could install 1 of those stupid 'enhanced magic' mods like Midas that give you a myriad of ridiculously overpowered magic spells.

I started doing the "Building Oblivion" thread guide, got to the end, realised he hadn't finished, booted the game up anyway and crashed when trying to exit the sewer. I then promptly uninstalled cus I couldn't be bothered to pick up the pieces of such a huge mod undertaking.

Moral of the story - try and keep it small if you're not running a compilation. At least at first, because I guarantee if you don't run Oblivion for a bit after each mod install, something is going to go wrong, the chance of which will increase exponentially the more mods you install.

The moral is to do it in piece by piece chunks. I said to make a character, run it to the end of the sewers and test. Then test again every few mods. If you do all of that in one go something will always break and you'll never know what.

The guide is mostly done except for the body replacers, which there's links too and are trivial to install if you managed the rest.

The old easy to install version is linked in the first post but it's a bit crashy.

He hadn't finished?

Thanks for the tip, I'll have a rummage about the mods tonight and post back what I find.[
