d/l loads of typical mods and installed them, they do amazingly make a huge difference.

anyway, a few of them dont seem to install properly?

e.g i got the new colour map where the instructions say just put the files in the textures folder. there is no need for a .esp file

did that and nothing changes?

am I doing something wrong somewhere?

this may or may not have occurred with some other mods as well, where it says just put in the new files in the textures folder.

I did find it odd that my clean install of oblivion, I dont think I saw a default textures folder anyway. the folder was created when I installed the Obscura Overhaul mod i think.

also anyone recommend a good mod to change the leveling up process?

I was looking at the AF level mod, but uninstalling is apparently an big pain (have to reinstall oblivion!)

i found out why the map mod doesnt work.

"Attention: All the above mods will stop working after installing the 1.4 beta patch. To fix them, you have to change the creation date on all mod files to a later (e.g. today's) date or add their location to the "ArchiveInvalidation.txt"-File in your Oblivion-Folder (not the Data-Folder), using relative Paths from the Data-Directory and Slashes instead of Backslashes ("c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\textures\menus50\map\world\cyrodiil_resized.dds" would become "Textures/Menus50/Map/World/Cyrodiil_Resized.dds", without quotation-marks). "

havent tested it yet.

theres a program i saw that updates all the dates somewhere, i forgot where i found it. its bookmark on my home PC. still at work at the moment.

sorry regarding leveling I meant the way your character levels up since i hate the stupid up major skills and your attribute bonuses depend on it. since i find you have to micromanage your character more to ensure you dont end up with a gimp. to me that takes away from the gameplay.
nice idea but flawed implementation in my mind.

achitopel - Wikipedia, I found that very useful theres alist of recommended mods, also tweakguides serach oblivion i foudn taht useful as well.
