Oblivion Mods

Ayleid Ruins retextures, Sewer WIP

This Texture Replacer will change the Ayleid Ruins to look a little more aged and rugged imo. Gates, walls, Welkyd stones, everything has been touched up. The new textures are 4x the size of originals and much more detailed, so if your running Oblivion on the lowest graphical settings this mod may not be to your liking as it may affect framerate on lower end PC's. The normal maps are the same size as originals but are also custom.

i got 106 esp's running atm, fav's are:

A New Beginning (new game start)
Better Hand to Hand LITE (gota love disarming folk and having a good old punchup)
Combat Behavior 2.11b
Companion Neeshka
Deadlier Traps
Galerion Natural Leveling (the NPC_ conflict with A New Beginning is not a problem)
Galerion Slower Leveling
Galerion Unarmored Acrobatics
Mouse Cast (requires obse)
Poison Machine
Reznod Mannequin
Rope Ladders
Spell Delete (requires obse)
Stealth Entrances
Update My Statue
Vanity Camera Smoother

all can be found from tessource.net

to use OBSE: just extract the two dll's and exe to the game root (oblivion\), if you use the mod manager it'll auto launch the latest obse (0009a), else use the OblivionLauncher.exe to activate the plugin, exit and run obse_loader.exe

having a huge number of mods is not recommended unless you know the games content.. you may have to edit the plugins so they work together or at least load them in the correct order so the former is not broken by the latter. when i've completed this game i'll do an ordered list and if the mod authors allow, a mod pack too.

Is A New Beginning the one where the game behaves as though the MQ is over and you get a start point other than the prison? If so, I'd seen the author talking about it in the official forums but didn't think it was out yet. Who has it?

the main quest is still available but it'll only start if you get busted by the law in imperial city. i'm not sure if the oblivion gates will open without starting any of the main quest  time will tell.

i should add, a mate had an issue with the orrery and 1.2 of this mod. i got it started with the console: player.setstage DLCOrrery 10

any offical plugin that fails to start i think can be kick started using..
player.setstage DCLpluginName 10
he only brought the first offical two plugin's, i have none so i can't really check on that to be sure.

The pc with my Oblivion install is kaput, so I'm relying on memory here, but I used to run Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul v1.1; a quick-fix levelling esp that gave you +5 in your three chosen stats at levelup without having to power-level your secondary stats (an unforgivably tedious game dynamic, that was nonetheless obligatory if you still wanted to have a chance against Lv20 monsters); various tweaks to increase the amount of loot required to advance in the Thieves Guild quests; the high-resolution texture pack.

Hector

This is the mod I was talking about. It has the same name, hence the confusion, but a different start. Later in the thread he talks about a change which means that you can do the MQ if you want, but that actually spoils it for me. If it ever comes out I plan to get this.

Is there a mod to make magic spells look any better than the standard ones, u know fireballs or lightning for example.

Is there a way to download 'one big mod' that contains loads of mods?
I'm about to re-install oblivion cos i'm bored but this time a fancy using a few mods to spruce things up a bit.
I only want the one's that make the game look better but that i will still be capable of playin on my system (see sig).

If no 'big pack' exists could someone explain to me how mods work as i am a complete noob and have never used any type of mod before. Thanks guys!

Ok Im starting to wonder what is wrong with my version of Oblivion, Im playing it vanilla.

I played through the whole main quest and the whole thiefs guild, Ive also done over 20 side missions and I only got to level 4!?

Yes I did sleep, I did it often, it just never hardly seemed to level at all. whats up with that?

also Im yet to see one bear or minataur, whats going on?

The most likely reason is that your character has major skills which you aren't using. For instance, if your majors are heavy armour, blunt, hand-to-hand, acrobatics, speechcraft, mercantile and illusion (say), but you wear light armour, use a blade and don't trade then you will level up slowly because ONLY the major skills count towards leveling. Check your majors, and practice them. You won't see minotaurs until after level 10 or so (can't remember exactly).

Hector

Thanks. But it looks like he's gone backwards and set the game so that the MQ hasn't begun. I rather prefered the idea of it already being over, but one of his posts suggests that is still on its way.

Can't you achieve exactly the same thing, minus the custom start points, by just not touching the main quest? That's certainly what I'm doing at the moment for my second play-through; I've completed the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, and am on my way to completing the Mages Guild, and I've not even been to Kvatch yet.

Meridian, that can be sorted with a batch file i reckon.

as far as the game would care you've done the main story.. the rewards should be given and then it would just be a matter of waiting for the armour and there will be no oblivion gates either.

it may be best to make multiple .bat files though, because i'm not sure how it'll cope will the lot in one go.. thats the easiest way i think without messing about with TESCS.

Update: seems to have worked, although it'll need playing to tell..
rclick and save as:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dabar/tesiv/mq.txt
place in the oblivion root, where the games exe is. start the game using the the mod, and once your in the gameworld at the console type
Code:
bat mq.txt
click continue to all that pop up and then you should see fame, quests complete go up.

Update2:
while it ends the main quest some things are not done such as no dragon armour is placed. it'll need multiple stages set per quest.
