Hi,

Recently installed Oblivion and would like to try get into it.

I've heard quite a few people around this forum, and other forums talk about performance and visual mods that make the game look better along with making it perform better?

Could anyone point me in the right direction for this mod please?

Thanks,
Craig.

Streamline makes it play a lot smoother, and Qarls Texture Pack 3 makes it look a lot better. There are tonnes of other mods though if you do a search here or check out the top 100 on tesnexus.com.

Around christmas someone posted about a way to knit a load of oblivion mods together to make it look sound and smell much better. Can't remember what it was called though ¬_¬

Think that mod goes a little too far for me really. I'd like to stick to the original game and just make it look nicer.

Got streamline installed and that's made it run a lot better. Will install Qarls mod later.

[Edit]
Just been looking around for Qarl's mod and found quite a few different versions.

Should I be getting the plain "Qarl's texture pack III" or "Qarl's texture pack III redimized and further reduced OMOD" (see this page: http://www.fileplanet.com/search.aspx?searchtype=2&st=0&sf=3&q=qarl)

Thanks,
Craig.

Judging by your specs, the normal QTP3 will be fine for you - you shouldn't notice much of a performance hit. However from what I've read, the Redimized version is far less resource hungry and looks almost the same. It's up to you really.

You might want to check out this too:

Some really good info there about making the game look better.

Sorry for the hijack but does anyone know what the mod to stop creatures like wolves automatically levelling up and do you know if this is compatible with save games?
