Hello guys.

I'm thinking about playing Oblivion again. I didn't play it for long last time and I didn't use any mods. I've hard a lot of hype about some mods and apparently they make the game much better.

What mods should I get?

Thanks

BTmod for the menus is the only one I consider a must, you don't get nearly enough stuff on the screen at once without it. I mostly play it as is aside from that, personally.

That, "Shaja's distant terrain" and "natural environments" are my musts for playing Oblivion.

I would add Immersive Interface, to shrink the stupidly large HUD. Those two alone are must have, since they correct the two things everyone hates. Everything else, even texture mods, are down to personal taste.

Note that pretty much all terrain and texture mods come with a performance penalty, even if only a small one in some cases. They are also less necessary if you have Shivering Isles and the latest patch as Bethesda adds some better textures. And bigger is not the same as better.

Do you know what, actually I'd forgotten a couple. I haven't played it on PC for a long long time, now it's coming back to me. I used to use the one that gives you a health bar under your weapon to see its condition, immersive interface, btmod, and a couple of texture dooberrys. The weapon health one I found really really vital once I got used to it.

Qarls texture packs, if your computer can handle it.

Marts monster mod and OOO.

Unofficial patch.

What kind of setup do you need to run this game at maximum settings, say at a resolution of 1280x800.

If your wanting stock graphics with no mods, i'd probably say 7900 there abouts. Must have 512mb of ram on the card tho.

2gb of memory is also a must and around a 2.4-3ghz duel core should do the trick.

But with my spec

C2D E6400 @ 3.2ghz
4gb 800mhz 5-5-5-18 Ballistix
640mb 8800GTS @ 600/900

I sometimes get fps lag when using the really high spec qarls texture pack 3 and other addons.

If you intend to use a bow you can get arrow damage and speed mods (they're customizeable too) which makes bows much more useful. In vanilla, bows have far too much arc (dip), too little range and too little damage to make a viable weapon.

get Blood and mud, for bravil, remakes the entire town people/adds new quests makes it look faaaaaaaaaar better.
