how many times have you installed/uninstalled?
each time you need to delete the bethesda registry entries. the oblivion file in my games and the bethesda folder in program files.
if you read the "readme" in the oblivion folder bethesda state this;
"-Uninstalling Shivering Isles
Uninstalling Shivering Isles removes many files that are required by Oblivion to play. To play Oblivion after uninstalling Shivering Isles, you must first uninstall and reinstall Oblivion to properly replace the needed files.
-Installation Issue
If you repeatedly uninstall and re-install Oblivion, certain systems will display an error message if you try to uninstall Oblivion again. To fix this, put your Oblivion disk in and run setup.exe. This will clear up the error and you can uninstall and reinstall the game."
also do you have construction set installed?
i've found that if i've mucked about with mods and saved to multiple active mods it utterly corrupts the game and it won't start.
if you use windows or the games uninstaller it leaves behind the data file which contains this and will still be corrupt.
regardless if you use construction set or not you need to erase every trace of oblivion from your pc and do a clean install.
go HERE to find out more about a clean un-install and other error issues.
im really feeling for you here
