Finaly just bought Oblivion 4 ( i know im a bit late),

I am woundering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to which graphical patches to download,
I want to play the game normaly but would like to upgrade the graphics as i herd there are a few patches out.

could anyone tell me which patches they recomend and how to instal them.

Cheers Mark

As most mods for Oblivion are freely downloadable and there are so many of them, I'd look at the links given on the Oblivion Wikipedia. Better source than Elder Scrolls homepage, I find.

A good place to look would be here:
http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ#Where_can_I_find_good_mods.3F

There are lots of recommendations there. Personally I wouldn't want to name any because they are so varied and it depends so very much on your personal taste.

But remember to download the Oblivion Mod Manager as a front-end for arranging the different mods, otherwise the results might be baffling.

He's talking about mods rather than patches, Black Dog (I know he said patches, but he's talking about graphical upgrades rather than compatibility fixes and whatnot.)

There are an astounding amount of mods available for Oblivion. My favourite source is http://www.tesnexus.com/ - particularly for the bodies. Oblivion is awesome, but the faces are Frakensteinian monstrosities without a decent patch or two.

Yes sorry, it was mod i ment, as above correctaly pointed out :).

Got some good advice here will try installing a few of these graphical mods before i start the game cheers

I've just re-installed Oblivion and started to play it again. I also have the Shivering Isles loaded, but not the Night of the Nine.

The game is patched to 1.2416 (I think, I'll check later) as some of the mods I put on required this level of the game.

Current Mods

Mod manager
OBSE - script editor needed by some of the mods.
BT22 customisation (custom UI mods)
Make it Pretty Pack (loads of world effects, weather, flora and fauna, improved distant textures and other graphics changes).
Key chain.
Drop-able torch. When a lit torch is eqipped and I switch to a weapon, the lit torch is dropped and stays lit)
Horse saddle bags.
House cellar (all bought houses now have a cellar which is common - allows access to stuff in there without travelling half the world)
Harvest mods (changes to the way boxs / flora looks after looting - I have a problem with the flora mod so it's turned of at the moment)
Travel to houses, quick travel direct to owned houses.
Big full colour map.

probably others...

It took a few hours to sort it all out, but it should make the game a bit easier to navigate.

This should still be current?

Since thee has been a few Oblivion questions you might want to post there to bump it or update it. I won't be updating it anymore.

Im uninstalling Oblivion tomorrow to update pc and load up vista.
I doubt I shall tread the roads of Cyrodiil again as I've put about 500hrs into it so time for something new...............
How about Fallout 3:D
