Hey all,
I'm looking to play through Oblivion again but I'm thinking about trading in my 360 copy for a PS3 copy.

Mainly for the slightly improved graphics and load times but also just for the fact that I don't use my PS3 enough.

I know the PS3 version has the Nights of the Nine expansion, and the GotY edition comes with the Shivering Isles, but does it also come with the other little add ons? The Orrey and Wizards Tower for example?

Also, is there anyone else who has switched and are there any other major differences?

Thanks

I played both versions to death (60+ hours each) and the PS3 version is clearly the best of the two. The framerate is slightly smoother, less pop ups in the distance, quicker loading times and the GFX are sharper. The GOTY Edition obviously has the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles but i don't think it has the other little bits. Wizards Tower etc etc :)

It's been said twice, and I'll say it again. PS3 version is the better version, Out in the great wide world, Load times are greatly reduced, loading screens when entering dungeons and houses is faster, and as said, Graphic pop-ins are greatly reduced too.

Thanks guys, i'm pretty convinced now. I'm a but bummed about the little add ons not being included but I can see past that for the improved load times alone.

I think the Knights of the Nine expansion comes with all the little bits tacked on the side, it was like that when i installed it for PC

The little trinkety downloads such as horse armour, orrery, Mehrune's Razor are all Xbox 360 and PC exclusive downloads. They are not included on any disc version. There is a 360 GOTY version but it seems difficult to track down from online retailers. People are selling it at ridiculous prices such as £50!

how much did you get the PS3 version? I have it for the PC any reason to play it on the PS3 (apart from 32" Samsung glory and a comfortable armchair? )

I was wondering the same, ive got it on PC and was wondering if its worth getting for the PS3.

I managed to get mine off the UK's biggest distributor of games with discount thanks to reward points. In the end I got it for £22.99.

Are you supposed to 'install' this game on the ps3?

I've been playing it for a little while, and whilst the load times do seem to be nippier, there is still the odd bit of stuttering.

No, the game background installs about 5GB itself. Why Capcom could not take a leaf out of Bethesda's book and do this with Lost Planet, DMC4, etc. I do not know.

Didn't DMC4 install the game as well which took about 15 mins?

edit: I'm confused, can you clarify please?

The difference with Oblivion is that the game doesn't make you wait while it copies data to the HDD. The Capcom ones do. At least I think Oblivion doesn't... Won't I look like a fool if it does! :D

Ahhhhh, I get you now. Yeah, I think the Xbox360 version does something similar too (obviously for those users who have the HDD attached).
