Haven't played this in a while, had a quick go and had a very nice find. It's called the Ring of Perfection and gives +10 to every single attribute! :) I didn't even know it existed but had a quick google and it seems it could be the most powerfull item in the game and quite possibly the hardest to find.

I'm level 20 and just joined the dark brotherhood. I was lock-picking some chests in the living quarters and there it was, got kicked out of the guild for it though :( Unfair as the icon didn't go red when over the chests and it's usually ok to take what you want once you've joined a guild??

Ah well, a nothing post but I'm bored...

I stole everything from the mages guild and fighters guild in front of them and then sold it to them! :D No-one ever said anything...

Also that was the third chest I'd picked and nothing was done but the second I picked up the Ring of perfection the the loading screen came up and then I was dumped outside with a message to sling my hook, or words to that effect.

I was under the impression it was ok to help yourself to anything as long as you were a member and the icon didn't go red indicating stealing?

I don't think the chests in the guild should count as stealing - are you sure you didn't inadvertantly pickpocket or steal from a member you weren't aware was in the guild?

I've got hoofed out of the thieves guild before for accidentally stealing from guild members I didn't know were members.

Actually on second thoughts maybe they do count. I waited until I had a certain mission that exempted me from the rules for a while before I robbed them up. Just nip back to a save before you stole from them and it'll all be fine.

Where did you find the ring of perfection?

Edit: Says random loot, boo hiss :(

Yeah I have a chest like that, I use the shanty town shack in Imperial city to store all my goodies as it's in the middle of the map and it's the quickest to get to. Must have over 500,000g worth of goodies there, the game pauses for about 10 seconds when I open it to load it all up :) Got about a dozen items worth over 10,000g each. Plus all the daedric stuff is appearing now that's worth a fortune, even more if I enchant it...

Though such valuable loot means nothing as the most a shop can have to buy stuff is 1,700g and then they are Master skill mercantile and will only pay 75% and I have to invest 500g gold in their shop!

I got the ring from the living quarters in the main dark brotherhood hideout that you goto when you very first start with them. There are loads of chests and they all need lock-picking and are on very hard so all five pins need lifting. This is the reason I was opening them as I was trying to raise my security level :)

Not sure what you mean about giving a gem level though? I do know you need to be AT LEAST level 20 to get the Ring of Perfection though. I must have been really lucky as I'd only just levelled up.

My luck stat is on 100 though ;) You'll struggle to get good loot with a low luck stat.

how on earth did u get 100 luck. deadric stuff came into play about lvl 26 for me and glass about level 23 so u sir are very lucky indeed lol, also who has the most money to give you so i know for the future? atm i use the guy in anvil or my thieves guildfence as i cant be bothered to search. when i say giving a gem a level i mean the soul gems u use to enchant a weapon need to be off a certain level for a certain effect. yesterday i made glass gaultlets called argonian in a glove that let me breathe underwater... i love naming things lol

Don't underestimate the luck stat, it effects everything. At 55 it's even, under that and everything you do will be affected by your luck stat NEGATIVELY. Over 55 and it becomes a POSITIVE stat and works in your favour ;)

My luck was at 55 right from the word go as I boosted in when I made my character and I added to Luck almost everytime I levelled up. I think it's about 70 now, then the ring of perfection gives +10 and I also enchanted some gaunlets and helmet +10 Luck each with a grand soul gem.

I've been seeing Glass stuff since about level 15 I think, and since I hit 20 everyone has daedric or glass, even the poor bandits on the roads have at least 10,000g worth of gear on them... makes it too easy to make money though.

Any merchant who is master level mercantile has the most money but they will only pay you around 70% of what an item is worth, but that's not a problem as Daedric is worth thousands anyway. They have 1200g to play with by default but you can invest 500g to boost them to 1700g, that's the most I've seen. Many shops have this in the Imperial City. Though you must be level 100 Mercantile to invest money.

Best trick is make a spell:
Fortify Mercantile 100 for 3 secs on self
Fortify Personality 100 for 3 secs on self
Charm 100 for 3 secs on target

Cast this on shop owners just before you speak to them for cheaper goods and allows you to invest money no matter what your level:)

Another is Fortify Luck 100 for x secs on self, cast it just before you enter caves, mines, ruins, etc for first time as all the goodies are generated when you enter ;) I do it sometimes to boost my luck to 200.

now that is a good idea, but wouldnt a spell like taht cost like 100 thousand, and wouldnt you neeed a BIGGGG illusion stat or whatever?

No, they cost very little because it's the length of time the spell lasts that affects cost, etc. That's why I only put them to 3 sec as it's all you need anyway as time freezes when you talk to NPC's ;)

I got that ring at about lvl 25 ish I believe, but I can't remember where from. Wasn't from any guild/faction buildings though, just a dungeon item. Guess it's just a random thing. It's a nice ring.
