OK maybe its the crappy weather, or just a lingering urge... but its time for another bash at Oblivion, plus a little moddage!

This time im going for a High Elf, undecided on gender, with Mage attribute for max magika, and im going to do the "reverse level" thing by putting major skills as things I dont use such as hand-to-hand and speechcraft.

I plan on having a large spell set and really working on the magic, with a good conjuration set, and a knife as final melee backup.

Mods/patches are going to be:

Official patch 1.2.0146
Unofficial patch 3.01
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul 1.31
Quarls Texture pack 3 + patch (mah00sive download!)
OBMM (obviously) :p
Crowded cities - No psychic guards - Double archers damage - Armory Lab - Arena Loot - Buy lockpicks - Bag of holding - Ruined Tail's Tale
+ a few others that I've used before.

Any other good recommendations for character tweaking or good mods to add? It'll probably take me most of this evening to get just the mods set up, let alone creating the character!

Hmmmm, got me thinking. I wonder if I want to reinstall it. Got a new system so curious to see how different it would look. Was pretty impressive on my x1950, wonder how good it would look on a gtx280. Looks like you've picked up most of the good mods.

I used to run it on an Opteron 144 @ 2.6Ghz, and an X1900XT 256Mb, that handled it pretty well, without too many graphics mods.

Not sure how Quarl's pack will eat my 8800GT, time to find out I suppose - might be the justification for that nice shiny 4870 if its not fast enough :D

I often go through an Oblivion stage, however my last urge, I think, will be my last.

I've drained this game of all life after spending hundreds of hours in it. Theres a limit to what mods can do for me now :p

I'll have to wait until ES:5 for my next fix I think :(

Eggyoke: Have you tried Neverwinter nights 2???? I know its 3rd person (why????, why third person???? I can't understand 3rd person!!!!) and its not ES but its kind of absorbing.

Get Darnified UI

Also two small mods that I highly recommend:
ChaseCameraMod - Improved third person camera loads
MotionBlur - Adds very good motion blur effect to game (note: you must also install OBSE to use this mod).

Finally: You may want to try Qarl's Texture Pack Redimised, as performance will be greatly improved.

Yes I've played and finished it, and the Mask of the Betrayer expansion. It was OK, the expansion was MUCH better though.

I've played nearly all decent+ RPG games on the PC within the last 6 or so years.

At the moment I'm replaying The Witcher.

I like RPGs ...infact no other genre comes close to them :D

This thread has made me install Oblivion again lol. I played it before but with 0 mods. This time I'm going to mod it up a lot and see if it's even better!

Cheers.

I recommend Natural Environments and the full range of Unique Landscape mods. They really bring the boring generated "wilderness" to life.

Also OOO and TNR faces (amazing mod)

I'm also using Natural Environments and the Unique Landscape mods. The latter is a royal pain to install (time wise) as there are so many separate ones, then patch files to dl.

One that hasn't been mentioned so far is Open Better Cities.

Anyone know where to get a mod which makes the bow and arrow's more powerful? The normal ones suck and it can take like 12 arrows just to down a bear :|

Its a shame but Im also at the stage where there is no game to satisfy the void for good RPG(after having gone through Oblivion over and over).

Same with WoW on the online front...nothing to beat it soon.

I really wanted to get into this game but the annoying frame skip issue drove me crazy!

Same thing happens in doom3 / quake 4 e.t.c which is fixed by using fixprecise tic 1 or something

Oh well, there goes my weekend :D Reinstalling Stalker, Oblivion and possibly buying sins of a solar empire. Not sure about it yet though.

I remember it being considered one of the most demanding games graphically speaking when it first came out :D Still think the wilderness feeling has yet to be surpassed.

I tried Natural Envs yesterday after playing with no graphical mods for a week and have to say it looked noticeably worse. Things were so much more dull, even at midday.
