Well since I got my new setup (in my sig) I thought I'd borrow a copy of Oblivion from my mate. Everyone around here and in the GFX Card Forum seems to use Oblivion as some kind of yard-stick to measure you card/system/ etc etc. Well Ive never played any of the previous games so apart from me just stumbling around the game world not knowing what the hell Im doing, I just dont find it pretty at all.

The low detail textures in the distance (even with LOD of high and all settings high) the awful plants that seem to just 'grow' in front of your eyes like 12 ft in front of you. same old repeated little towns and such, whats the big deal?

I admit Ive only played a couple of hours but from what I was expecting (and what everyone hypes it up) I find myself pretty bored after a couple of hours.

I like the RPG element (albeit a little clunky feeling) but I was surprised that the game was stuttering when it was loading on the fly, stuttering quite a bit to be honest.

I get this aswell, same in GRAW. I think its to do with the view distance.

I suggest you download some mods, like the LOD texture replacer etc. Look on WIKI for Oblivion it has a section dedicated to Oblivion mods:

hrmm i find the opposite to be the case. Instead of having a game forcefeed you and send you down linear corridors, telling you what to do, whats right n wrong etc. You decide what to do in Oblivion you get out of it however much you put in. Excellent sandbox-freeformish game. Best looking one on the pc imo. Will post more pics later.
