Opens tomorrow in UK cinemas, who's going to be seeing it then?

Personally tried to avoid trailers but from little bits I have seen it looks very cool.

well I been trying to get to the cinemas for few months now to see few movies and whenever I been set to go something happens that prevents me from going. so I put today and tomorrow aside for filling my movie redraws. when see .G.I. Joe 2 today and will be hopefully be watching "the host" & Oblivion tomorrow but got get up early to get into Newcastle for 11:15. from what little trailers I've seen they both seam to look pretty good film but won't know until I've seen it. but their are few good movies out this month.

Saw it tonight at a free preview screening for Virgin Media customers.

All I can say is wow, an unexpectedly brilliant film. I'm admittedly a huge Sci-Fi fan and love post apocalyptic stuff but the film had an excellent story, perfect pacing with a few surprises, a great score, fantastic sound and fx, but on top of that had a good cast with excellent performances.

I will buy this on Blu Ray. 9/10.

excellent, it sound even more promising.;):)

well just got back in from the picture's after watching both films both very good films with "the Host" more gear towards being a chick flick but I knew that before going to watch it. as for oblivion very good indeed would definitely recommend it, the BFCC bit before the film starts states that their only one swear word in whole film which is a shame but for that one scene with that one swear word it is perfect for that scene in question. again toning a film down to be a 12a when it could have been so much better being a 15 it just crazy but there is nothing we can do about it.

I've been quoting the part with the swear word all day as we have someone in the office with that name ;):D

The reviews on RT seem quite mixed at the moment saying that the film is good looking but lacks character development etc.

without any spoilers what are the thoughts of you guys who've been to see it ?

Yeah, you could add 30 minutes to the film for back story and character development but it would be unnecessary, there was enough of it, it doesn't really need more IMO.

As I said before, the story is good, simple, but good, and the pacing is about right. However, a little more back story on the "not sure what to call them" in the "thing" would have been the only thing that, for me, would have made it any better. I was satisfied though as I kind of liked the mystery.

as rob mention little more on the back story not too much just little more possible for example the war, the Tet's arrival. oh and bit more action or something to give it a 15 cert. can think of few thing for example scene for a back story but to mention them would be to spoilers.
I don't want to ruin it for people all I say is the scene between Morgan and Tom about the troop ships that would be good if they did it.

Oblivion 9/10 brilliant SC-FI movie. Loved every bit of.

The storyline was fantastic with lots of surprising moments. People can Hate on Tom Cruise as a person with his religious ways but he is a awsome actor. Fantastic movie and one to watch if you like a mixture of SCI-FI with drama and a bit of action.

Looking forward to seeing this and as said above, people may think Tom Cruise is a weirdo but he is one hell of an actor.

Saw this last night.

Well the plot was entirely predictable if you've ever seen even a handful of different things in the past - Moon, Independence Day, Matrix, Fifth Element, even Wall:E, the list goes on...

The AI inverted pyramid was a bit reminiscent of GLaDOS! :D

However given all that it was still very well executed and better than say, Prometheus, even though the scope may have been smaller. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. 8/10 for me.

Very different for TC as well - one of his better films I'd say.

Best line in the film. :D

Edit: And lacking character development? IMO it didn't need it if you consider everything we were seeing/learning was from tech-49's perspective. Ok I feel there might have been a little too much left to speculation, however it is not detrimental to the film.

i disagree about it being predicatble. far form it and thats what made the movie great because it wasnt too predictable with a few suprises

Fair enough, even I thought the Scavs were alien initially, and other humans on the surface were separate from them.

Although my mind instantly went to clones and distrusting Sally/tet, and that that those spying on jack/trying to catch him were human (could tell this from having seen the trailers).

I do think it is a fantastic film with great scenery, acting and soundtrack, however a little unoriginal overall.

Seen it, absolutely loved it, every bit of it, enough story to keep you asking..what the hell is happening ( any more backstory as others asked for, I think it would have been very easy to put the story together in your own head).

Loved the score ( always having an ear for the music used) but that last ending sequence, the image and the music, and the line before it was just pure a pure Cinema experience for me.

It wasn't bad actually. There were a few twists that made it not too bad, but nothing that surprised me a huge amount. A bit too American focussed on the worldwide scale, but that wasn't too bad.

Did anyone else think that the Tet middle thing reminded them of Glados, and the droids themselves were quite similar in design?
Also, anyone else notice the Tet floating around earth in the Universal start logo?

The backstory wasn't too bad, but it was all revealed very suddenly. Took a while for it to.

A solid 7.5-8/10 though.
