just set my pc up and i cant get the front or rear sound ports working :(

tried different drivers (couldnt find mobo drivers on the cd thou)

no to bothered if the front I/O ports dont work but the back ones i thought would be straight forward, missing anything obvious ?

Thanks

Installed the Microsoftt UAA software first?
Does the sound card driver install correctly?
What does Device Manager show?

i would reset the mobo and load de-faults just incase.

by the way..after you install the MS update for HD sound and you tried to install the
drivers off GA,did your comp find new hard ware ?

you could go into device manager and scan for new hardware

nope didnt find new hardware. reset the mobo and it it was the same

showing audio and legacy drivers in the hardware bit and nothing showing with a ? next to it

starting to puzzle me now :(

if you have pluged a cable for your case into the mobo for front panel sound
un-plug it see that brings it back.

EDIT you sure the option in the bios Azalia codec is not switched off..

it is turned on in bios, double checked this morning, have unplugged front panel just so i no that its not the problem however still no joy :(

any ideas or should i RMA/buy a soundcard?

im using XP home at the minute, im just glad my pc isnt loud otherwise i would have a headache from the silence in my room but the whinning from my pc :P:p

Vista has the drivers pre-installed so it wouldn't have caused any problems.

But the XP drivers should install and run fine after you install the Microsoft UAA fix.

would it be possible for someone to post a link to UAA fix just for my peace of mind incase i didnt d/l the correct one

thanks

time for another turn in events. downloaded from that link and installed, now my realtek has a ? next to it in device manager, went to put the main realtek drivers on from my mobo cd and it give me an error "realtek HD driver failure"

Any ideas?

Download the "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)" from here and see if it works.
