hey all, just had to go take my x-mystique out me shuttle to make room for a second graphics card and thus had to go back to usin crappy onboard sound (realtek AC97).

since installing it i have a slight problem, i use spdif to connect to my amp, but everytime a sound is played on my comp, the begenning of it is cut off while the signal is sent to my amp.

is there anyway i can get a constant signal sent to my amp to stop this clipping? with soundstorm and my x-mystique it was possible

any ideas?

Is your amp having problems autodetecting the signal? It sounds like it takes a little while to lock on to the signal. If this is the problem, I've no idea how to fix it mind. Try updating your drivers.

it is set to auto detect, so when i use dvds with the spdif passthrough it will detect either dd or dts etc. i think its just slow to switch (its an old skool sony STR-DE495)

ive tried quite a few drivers, nvidia and realtek and they both do the same thing.

my amp knows theres somethin connected to the optical connection, but its not being sent anythin until a sound is played (the pic of the speakers dissapears when theres no sound, then reappears when a sound is playing).

its very annoyin as all windows sounds are clipped, anythin i listen to gets clipped if i pause or stop it hten play again, havnt tried any games yet but i can imagine that bein quite bad :(

i dont think its a problem witht he amp, my 360 and dvd players works fine on it with optical. even when theres no sound playing it doesnt stop sending a signal to it. i think its just a driver issue.

I've had it before with both soundstorm and my x-mystique, though i found either a work around or updated drivers that worked better

ive got some older realtek ones to try, so ill try them in a bit and report back.
