I've been wanting to get into streaming for a long time now and I've never really had the computer to do so, but I upgraded back in January and now my computer is of that level that I should be able to stream at an acceptable level.
Here are my computer specifications, but they are also in my signature just encase you are interested:
i5-3570k @ 3.4GHz
12GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
AMD 7850 2GB
Internet speeds: I'm on BT Infinity 80/20
(Surprisingly enough, even when I overclocked this to 4GHz nothing really changed performance wise, maybe this is because it has a turbo mode built in that allows me to reach speeds of 3.8GHz)
All of this is just the main stuff that comes into consideration when streaming, the rest doesn't really matter.
But say for example when I was on 4.0GHz and I would attempt to stream, if I tried to stream at 60fps, I would get pretty bad fps in-game and the game would feel sluggish.
It's much better at 30fps, but I can still feel slows in my game, I can tell that my cpu or gpu isn't performing at the level that it should be, the only way that I can seem to get it to work at a reasonable FPS on my machine would be that of reducing the video fps in OBS to 20fps and that's not the most ideal situation for the viewing quality of my stream.
My output quality is 720p using monitor capture, I like to use Monitor capture because it's beneficial to myself and others, I don't want to use game capture as it does not benefit me and causes issues when I'm trying to play games such as League of Legends or something else that requires me to capture my desktop.
My OBS settings are as follows:
Encoding: CBR Enabled / Max Bitrate: 2500 / Audio encoding: AAC w/ 96 bitrate.
Video: Resolution: 1920x1080 / Resolution downscale: 1280x720 / Filter: Blineear: fastest / fps: 20 / Disable: Aero
Advanced: Use multithreaded optimizations / Process Priority class: Normal / x264 cpu preset: veryfast / keyframe interval: 2
And that's it, is there any reason using my system I shouldn't be able to use higher than 20fps without it resulting in poor performance on my end.
