I timed my boot from loading of bios to loading of all icons and Gadgets to about 47 seconds. I do suffer from the dreaded OCD, but this is getting ridiculous about 5 times i've restarted checking the damn thing, the gadgets seem to take a long time to load too, it's a build by the kind guys at OCuk, once i get into Windows it's fine, i'm driving myself nuts over this.

Am I going mad or is this an acceptable time?

Anyone else do this?

Cheers guys and please be gentle.

Pretty old now:
E2180 @ 3.2Ghz, 4GB DDR2, Windows 7.

Most of my issues are that I've not reinstalled Windows since January 2010 and I have a lot of services etc running on my PC which is why I tend to just leave it turned on :p.

Try Windows Boot Timer http://www.planetsoft.org/

Here's mine:

Just use S3 sleep mode

Your pc will be quicker as it won't need to Superfetch each time

Takes about 0.5 seconds to resume :D

Just tried mine and it came in at 17.924 which i'm happy with. I've got so much stuff installed now (only 21Gb free on my 64Gb SSD, and that's with all my games/data on a different drive).

I guess it's what you get used to really. I used to think my work PC booted quickly until I built this and now it feels slow. I'll ONLY use an SSD for my OS in the future!

Before I got my SSD I often found running too many gadgets or startup programs slowed down the time it took to get to a working desktop. Run Msconfig and disable anything that's not needed at startup, then try and limit what gadgets you use to those that are useful and not just eye candy :)

just tried that program, got 30.6 seconds, q9550 at standard, 4gb 800mhz ddr2, win 7 home premium, im pretty impressed with that tbh considering the age of my kit
