A matter of when not if supposedly. Can't say I'm entirely enamoured by this but if it ensures their long term survival then I guess I can live with it. One of my favourite developers, big fan of Pillars and their back catalogue.

There will be a couple of years if honeymoon as Obsidian complete current projects then Microsoft will start stripping out IP and farming it off to cheaper "yes" devs and Obsidian will eventually become nothing more than a name churning out shadows of it's previous work and none of the original team involved. It's happened before and will sadly happen nearly every-time a behemoth sinks it's teeth into a smaller dev.

The cynic in me thinks the same, hopefully not but like you said it's happened far too many times before.
