when i use ccc to set my 5870 to 900/1300 it will idle at 400/1300 which seems stupid to me.

at stock it idles at 157/300

anyone have this same issue?

n.b. im not using any third party programs or ati tool etc

Its a fix to combat the GSOD I think.

But a nice program to OC these cards with is MSI Afterburner.

Yes, horrible intro, and a pathetic UI. But it works very nicely and is powerful. Its built on the powerful RiveTuner.

But to answer your question. My card is at 1027/1275 with a voltage of 1.3 and idles at 400/1275.

GSOD is the Grey Screen Of Death some people experience when the idle clocks are too low and the driver crashes. Upping the idle clocks to 400/900 fixed it for me.

ohh right got ya, i sometimes get a flash or complete freeze when im playing cod of vertical stripes
how do you control idle clocks?
can you make it so theres no idle, so that its always full speed in a certain profile?
