Hi there, I recently bought the following:

E8200 with AC Freezer 7
Gigabyte P35-DS3
2 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 800Mhz 6400

Now I have never really tried Overclocking any of my previous CPU's before but I'm going to give this a try.

I was planning to just up the default FSB from 333 to 400 to give 3.2Ghz up from 2.66Ghz.

From my understanding I'm limited to 400 due to the speed of the RAM, any higher than 400 and I've have to up the voltages on the RAM (correct me if I'm wrong).

Does this seem right? Any other things I should know before trying it? Cheers.

Yeah I've had a quick read through them both.

I guess the main question I wanted to ask was to any E8200 if it was possible for me to just increase the FSB from 333 straight to 400 without changing any other values in the BIOS. Cheers.

It's possible. Whether or not it'll be stable is another matter.

Best to go up in smaller inclinations until it becomes unstable, then start upping the vcore until it's stable. Then continue with the FSB and repeat.

I think the E8200 is like the E8400 with regards to vcore, so don't go above 1.4v (some people have seen degradation issues.

IIRC mine didn't need any voltage bump for 400fsb, but don't quote me on that.

Have a go at clocking the ram (you can use up to 2.3v) because these chips can clock like mad! Your mobo will more than likely be the limit, not the cooling or CPU.

If it's the CAS4 memory then drop the memory timings to 5-5-5-15 and you should get a lot more than 800mhz out of it.

Bah just stick at 400, just remember to run the ram at 1:1 and work up from that (try not touching the voltages untill your having boot problems)
