Hey all,

I have the E8400 and P5Q PRO. After reading about I have put the FSB to 400 (3.6ghz) and have run the Prime95 Blend test for 4 hours and In-Place test for 2. There have been no errors and temps are around 50-54 when maxed out.

Im pretty satisfied that its stable, a lot of people also say it is at 3.6 with only FSB upped.

However, now I am abit stuck at what to do now.

I dont think I can go above 3.6 with only changing the FSB (not sure though).

Whats the next step then? Move the FSB up until it crashes or becomes unstable? Or change the voltage (no idea to what) or tighten up the RAM timings (no idea what to do).

This is my RAM anyway...

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 GOLD XTC Memory Kit CL5(5-5-5-18)

Advice strongly welcome :D

Changing the voltage is always the last step when overclocked the cpu. Just keep going upwards untill you can no longer remain stable. Then start on the RAM speeds and timings (Watch for heat). Then try moving forwards a little morre, it probably wont be much.

Now I'm going to assume you have a nice beasty heatsink sat atop of that cpu. SO go ahead and increase the voltage slightly, but not by much at all. It doesnt take much to get stable again.

Get back into windows, run Prime95 or what ever you feel like doing and see what the temps are like with the new voltage. 80c should be about your limmit, 90c is where most cpu's shut off but please dont ever hit that anyway.

Just keep going like that, small increase in frequency and then small jump in voltage.
