On further inspection it has 'lumix' embossed on the nub they put along cables!
Doesn't look like standard connector and it definitely isn't mini-USB.I think that’s a mini USB cable. They were commonly used on cameras (as you found out) and similar sized electronics. Haven’t seen one for years now.

Dont throw it away, put it in your man draw, you can guarantee you'll find the device it powers a couple of months down the line and then think, damn, no cable.....sod's law.
You can't evade sod's law. I have boxes of random proprietary cables, and boxes of random old devices that are missing their proprietary cables. Do any of them match up? I think you know the answer...
and still we dont learn.....extra man draw required.
