Anyone overclocking an E8400 on an Asus P5Q-E motherboard. I'd be happy to hear what results you have obtained with FSB, CPU voltage etc. details.

just managed this with my new Xeon E3110 (e8400) and P5Q Deluxe

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding how the 'bootstrap' works on this motherboard. I know it has something to do with the memory ratio but what is 1:1? If I set my FSB to 400, and bootstrap to 400 it runs my memory at 800 so I assume the 400mhz option is the 1:1 ratio? Am I correct?

Also what is the DRAM PLL(i think) voltage? I set the DRAM voltage to 2.3 as I have 4GB of Geil RAM and it's hungry stuff. What's the second voltage option though?

different bootstraps will run different timings on the northbridge and affect performance/stability, and the 400mhz strap will not necessarily run 1:1 memory ratio...each strap has its own ratios and you will see what they are when you select each strap.

And I don't think there is a DRAM PLL voltage? At least not on my P5Q-D. Also these boards overvolt the ram by about .08v so you are putting nearly 2.4v through your modules there...

Okay thanks gurusan, I'll read up on the bootstraps some more, what do you recommend as the best option?

I'll have to look over the voltage options again and I'll keep it set to 2.2V then :)

yeah that helps the cpu reach higher fsb. I have mine at 1.52...highest I would put it for 24/7 is around 1.54-1.56 and you shouldn't need to go higher then that anyway really.
