I looking for a mounting frame for a 11700kf so i can use Liquid metal on it will the OC Frame for Intel 9th Gen on 11th gen CPU

the only one i can find is branded "Der8auer CPU Mounting OC Frame for Intel 9th" i can find anything thats for 10th/11th
i know its the same cooler mounting but didn't know about the socket size as it have more pins

OR..
is it fine to just relid the CPU

I shouldn't think it matters, if its the same socket.

Equally you could just re-lid the CPU, the socket clamp will hold the IHS in place as long as your are carefull when clamping it down.

Ahh I see what you mean.

But the number is just the pin count.

But it doesn't mean the stock IHS is the same size (area) or thickness, I guess that's the real question.

It probably is, but I can't answer that.

I've now found out the 11700kf as a soldered IHS so im thinking of booting the system with the 360mm AIO before i de-lid it.
there will be no overcooling and TBF he will probably rain in the power limits. its for 1440p gaming so not crazy CPU intensive.

if you google it there is just nothing showing up for 10th/11th gen... 9th is all over and 12th/13th gen is all over.
i very much dough that the OC frame just skipped one of intel's hottest platform's

But the number is just the pin count.
is 49? i assume and extra row or two as the cpu look a tad longer then the skylake cpu's i have

no its 1200 pins or 1151 pins. The socket is the same physical size though, hence the same cooler compatibility.

If the 11700kf is a soldered on IHS I wouldn't bother trying to delid it TBH.

yes that's 49 pin difference not 1 pin? or am i missing somthing.
and the mounting handwear is just because the holes in the PCB are the same space nothing to do with socket size, like AM4 and AM5.,,,

the die itself might be longer, but the PCB im guessing is the same size as it has the same cooler mounts, but honestly I dunno.

If the die is soldered to the HSF then I guess it's irellevent, anyway.

the socket is bigger... there is an extra 49 pins that have to go somewhere.(only 2mm bigger)
but the question was will the 9th gen oc frame fit a 11th gen cpu, i'm going to assume you dont know.

It’s not the same. 9th gen is lga1151, and 11th gen is lga1200

That’s what I’m asking, they use the same cooler mounts but I do t know if that will fit..

I can find one for 10th/11th gen

For 1200, Intel guarantee that the cooler dimensions can be the same as 1151, so the clearance of components around the socket should be the same and the spacing of the PCB mounts, but the ILM is not intended to be removed, so I don't think Intel would give you any assurance there.

From the diagrams you provided, it is practically identical measurements, but since the ILM secures the CPU in the socket, I'd imagine that if you get it wrong, it might bork the board by damaging the pins, or bork the CPU by damaging the die. You could try asking the man himself.

FYI: from a quick scoot around, it looks like you can't even swap 10th and 11th, as the IHS makes up the difference in die size?

Thank buddy, de lidding was worth 10c drop from 90c. But direct die was pointless

I’m going to give the cpu a test run first, it’s for gaming only and will be under a 360 aio.
Hoping to boot it today or tomorrow

in short absolutely not, they have different die and substrate heights. besides the 11900k die is wider than 9900k so the der8auer one probably wouldnt even fit
