I bought a the above card from OC in October last year in time for COD4 to be released on PC. I'm able to view the fps in game and all was fine to start on al lmaps generally getting around 120fps, while set at com_maxfps 300.

Recently i seem to be getting around 50 on some maps and the odd crash now and again. Could this card be on the way out? or is there something in the recent patches for the game that could have caused this?

Is there any way to check the card properly other than a benchmark test, that tells me nothing? Spec of the machine at the bottom of post just in case it could be some other piece of hardware thats crippling the GPU.

Stock Cooling and not overclocked.

COD4 for me at the moment is not playable due to the crippled GPU/FPS and i'd have thought the components were man enough considering people i know have less and they dont suffer in anyway at all? Thanks in advance.
 
Monitor the temps of the card maybe with rivatuner .Does it happen in all games if so have you tryed a driver reinstall also?.

Ninja edit.Guess if you have installed xp/vista again then you have reinstalled drivers :P
 
Have you checked the fan to see if any dust has clogged up?. I've had to clean mine as I started to lose my stable overclock on CoD4 as it was always crashing. Cleaned the fans and it's playing it for hours on end overclocked like before :).

It might just be overheating if the dust is your problem.
 
Cleaned out the system a couple of times but it makes no difference. I have RivaTuner and Nvidia control monitoring the GPU temp but they report nothing out of the ordinary. :S

Maybe someone can explain these figures for me as i cant quite work all of them out. The obvious one's are no problem like Core and Shader values. The one i have a problem with is Memory Clock.


According to RivaTuner

Core Clock 576

Shader Clock 1350

Memory Clock 900

How does the memory clock figure tie in with the value listed in the cards spec? 768MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1800MHz

Any help for a nub is much appreciated.

Dont really know as i only play COD4, I did install Crysis and it seemed ok windowed but in full screen was very jittery.
