Evening all! Just recently bought a pc so I'm new to all this overclocking malarkey and am trying to learn as much as poss before i even attempt even a sniff of oc'ing.
I however can't find any info on wether clocking a gpu in BIOS is possible? From what I gather it is "always best" to clock from BIOS rather than windows and was just wondering if this is actually possible at all?
I've been spending some time looking through my BIOS but am still trying to get to grips with the concepts before i brave anything!!
Also what would u guys suggest I do 1st with regards to turbocharging my system?

Ta v much :D

BIOS for CPU overclocking, and a tweak program for GPU clocking as far as im concerned. Although i dont know everything :)

The only way to overclock a GPU via BIOS (excluding upping PCI-E frequency, which isn't the same) is via creating a modified video card BIOS yourself, or flashing your card with a pre-made version. However if you're a noob to it all then stick with software overclocking (ATI tool, Rivatuner etc etc) as it's by far the safest bet and will minimise risk of borking your expensive card.

However, I don't condone overclocking without first doing your research, so get acquainted with Google and use it to research the many CPU and GPU overclocking guides out there. :)

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! Thats cleared things up a bit :) However flashing my BIOS sounds rather scary so i think using ntune is the best bet.
Gonna give it a go on the weekend when i got plenty of time!

PS: Anyone used the autotune feature on ntune? Though I'd rather clock the rest of my system in BIOS when i understand more, this does seem far TOO easy just to click one button in windows and then job done?

What do u guys reckon?

I wouldn't trust the "Find Optimal" or whatever it's called button, I'd take it up in steps on the GPU, then find the maximum then lower it a little, then take up the memory is 10mhz steps, with a 20 min benchmark inbetween. The optimal button never gave me reliable results.

Use software, rigorously test and find the video card limits, e.g torture it with loops of 3D mark etc.. test a lot of games especially those known to expose flawed overclocks.. then when you've got your stable speeds flash the vid card BIOS to that. Thats never failed me.
